Question about Saeco Vienna Espresso Machine

1 Answer

I have a saeco italia and coffee is too weak - i have cleaned the grinder, and have adjusted the setting in more ways than one can count. No puck is formed once dispensed. I have also de-scaled the machine. Do you think it could be that i need new burrs.

Hi If you don't get the grinder back together correct and have the dials set in the bean hopper before attaching you will not get the correct grind and dosage for strong coffee. Dull burrs will usually give finer grinds but they will clog up quickly.

I got a saeco italia and the coffee tastes too light. how can i adjust it to make the coffee strong??

Hi
There are 2 knobs in the bean hopper. Turn the big knob to 8 and the small knob to the plus (+), then back one mark. If the grinder is already lower than 8 and the grinds look larger than coarse sugar you might have a seperated grinder.

My coffee is weak. i have played with the grinder, placing it at different no. on the outside plus i have played with adjustment on the interior.

Hi
Check the grinds. If they are coarse you have a separated grinder. It usually means it needs to be replaced I have seen them on ebay, but if you can't find them, I have some. If they are not coarse, you have to make 3 coffees before the grind will take affect. After you change the grind you have to make 3 drinks before you will see a change. If you don't have a puck in your dredge drawer, you don't have enough coffee going into the brew unit. Push the lever behind the door in the center top back to the +, then forward 1 click, and try that. There should be a full puck going into the dredge drawer that has the consistency of coarse sugar. If it very coarse its the grinder.

Saeco Italia coffee too weak - grindes too coarse

Remove beans from chamber, then remove the 2-3 screws in the chamber, then lift hopper slightly and turn adjustment knob towards the middle number, or halfway between fine and coarse. Then lower hopper make sure the gears line up together, set screws add beans and adjust finer.

Not clear on "Empty bean container/full grounds drawer) - not empty/not full. " But I gather that coffee is not being dispensed. Most Likely the grinder needs cleaning + brew group needs cleaning ( filter ). Do you get water/steam?

Grinder setting i

0 is the finest setting. If you read the manual, it advises to adjust your grinder ONLY when the grinder is actually working. Also, you should only adjust it gradually from one setting to the next (ei. from 2 to 3), and wait about 5 cups before adjusting the setting again.
