Question about Computers & Internet
I have a acer aspire 5810 that crashed. The hard-drive starts, then stops and there is no further activity. Any suggestions?
Try to boot of your Windows or any bootable DVD, to see if the machine actually functions. If it's OK then remove the hard drive and check if it is OK or not, you could do this by connecting the drive to a USB to hard drive convertor. If the drive is OK, then you have probably some other fault. if it is as Isuspect you will need a new hard drive and Operating System, ie: Windows, Linux etc.

If you have special data on the drive(pictures) then use the freezer trick.(I'm not gonna go into details google it) If not, then you should just reformat the hard drive using the CD that the laptop came with. Remember to go into the BIOS and change it to First Boot Selection: CDRom drive. You should be able to delete the old partition and then create a new one, then install windows. If none of this works, contact Acer.
