Try to boot of your Windows or any bootable DVD, to see if the machine actually functions. If it's OK then remove the hard drive and check if it is OK or not, you could do this by connecting the drive to a USB to hard drive convertor. If the drive is OK, then you have probably some other fault. if it is as Isuspect you will need a new hard drive and Operating System, ie: Windows, Linux etc.

If you have special data on the drive(pictures) then use the freezer trick.(I'm not gonna go into details google it) If not, then you should just reformat the hard drive using the CD that the laptop came with. Remember to go into the BIOS and change it to First Boot Selection: CDRom drive. You should be able to delete the old partition and then create a new one, then install windows. If none of this works, contact Acer.

Why my acer aspire say system not found

The system cannot detect the hard disk drive. Before you start up, re insert the hard disk. Remove the memory card and clean it with soft cloth or tissue paper. After doing these..Start up your computer and see the results. If nothing happens, restart your laptop, hit F12 key & set the hard disk drive to first boot device then press the Enter key. wait till the OS comes up.

Problem is that I have just installed a new hard drive in my Acer Aspire 5315 or is it 5135. All this after I have set up in the f2 start up page for the cd rom to be the boot drive and a windows...

Hello,
This issue may occur if one or more of the following conditions exist:
  • The basic input/output system (BIOS) does not detect the hard disk.
  • The hard disk is damaged.
  • Sector 0 of the physical hard disk drive has an incorrect or malformed master boot record (MBR).

Note Some third-party programs or disk corruption can damage an MBR.
  • An incompatible partition is marked as Active.
  • A partition that contains the MBR is no longer active.
To solve this, try one or more of the following solutions:
Verify your BIOS settings.. uparrow.gifVerify the computer's BIOS settings to make sure that BIOS lists and recognizes the hard disk. The documentation that came with the hard disk should aid you in doing so.

Use Recovery Console..Use the fixmbr command in the Windows XP Recovery (or relevant OS) Console to repair the MBR of the startup partition. Be sure that a virus isn't present on the system and that their aren't any hardware errors as this could prove fatal to your hard disk.

On regular computers you can crash them and it starts the pc from scratch like its brand new. How can I do that with my acer aspire kav60? The system restore only goes back so far, and it doesnt solve any...

Desktop PC's only go back to the restore point as your Notebook does, unless you are running Acronis or Norton Ghost in which case you can go back a little further.
Try running from the F8 menu at boot up. That should at least allow you to recover your system to when it was freshly installed, assuming you still have the restore partition on your hard drive.
Hope that helps.

Acer Aspire 5535-6608 crashing

This problem is due to a failing hard drive I believe. When the virus scan is working you get a clicking sound then it crashes. Clicking sounds from your laptop while running scans on the hard drive are bad. The first thing to do is to get your irreplaceable files backed up then contact a service professional to get the drive replaced. If it is a reputable service person they should be able to clone the drive over to a new drive with no major issues. Be sure to insist on your old drive back. Even though it may have issues, my guess is that you still have personal information you would not want someone else to get hold of.

Aspire 9500 doesn't start - cursor and drive indicator blinks

Generally the bios setting will be set to check the primary Hard disk for the Operating system and then move to the CD/DVD drive . It looks like your system is not finding the hard disk. Thats why its moving on the CD drive and trying to read it.

Possible issues :

1) Hard Drive crash
Solution : Nothing much. You need to replace the hard drive and reinstall the OS.
2) Hard Drive connection issue.
Solution : Open the chasi and try to figure out if the hard disc is properly connected.
3) Corrupted OS or boot file
Solution : Try to repair the OS use the OS cd and run the repair option.
4) Bios setting to treat CD drive as the primary media.
Solution : Use the F10 option in the Bios to change the primary Media.

Rate the Solution accordingly...
