Question about Motorola Talkabout T5720 (7 Channels) 2-Way Radio

1 Answer

Hi I have the T5622 talkabout with a PTT headset. I can transmit OK but I am not receiving anything other than a ''click'' when the other person transmits. I have tested the headset and I am able to recive audio through the connection OK so it would seem the radio my headset is connected to is simply not sending the audio it is receiving from the transmition to my headset. Has anyone else had any issues like this at all. There is no support on the Motorola website for Talkabout radio's at all. Help!! : (

Hi thanks for the advise. I have turned everything off and still not working. I can transmit fine with no problems using the PTT on the headset. It's not a Vox device so no Vox option or icon when I turn the radio on with the headset connected. I have tried to connect a very simple headset and that seems to work ok for transmitting and receiving so it would seem the radio's are OK. The headset I want to use seems to transmit OK and if I connect it to another source of audio it works OK as well. Its stange that the headset is listed to work with Motorola Talkabout radio's and seems to transmit OK and can receive audio from another sourse OK (an MP3 player) and the radio's seems to work with another cery cheap and basic headset also listed to work with talkabout radio's but they just will not work together!!

Here a few thoughts which come to mind.
1. You do not mention whether the radios communicate with the headset no on the radio. I will at this point, assume they do.
2. Be certain to have the radio SHUT OFF when plugging in the audio device.
3. Check your VOX settings. It could be your radio is going into VOX mode.
4. Only use the PTT button on the headset. Do not press the PTT on the radio at any time while using the headset.
5. Check that you have CALL TONES shut off.
6. Lastly, if nothing else works, go back to a basic mode, and set both radios where there are no special features turned on. ie turn off CODE, Qt Filter, VOX, Call Tones, etc.

One further item to check would be the ribs of the plug for the audio device. See if they align with the ribs on the other audio device you say works. This would assure they are touch the same contact points in the radio.

Sorry you felt I was NOT HELPFUL, I would have appreciated a THANKS FOR TRYING. Keep in mind, giving poor ratings can discourage knowledgeable people from helping you.

You have a bad or poorly charged battery. Transmitting takes more energy than receiving, so it is the first to fail.

Motorola Talkabout MR will not transmit

From reading through your settings, they appear to be identical. Except, I am not certain what Vox 2 is, or B5 0. If the number 2 beside VOX is a setting, you should set it to off or zero. Otherwise, they appear like they should work. (VOX = voice activation, and when enabled will cause a radio to transmit when it hears a sound, voice, etc.)
If you are using an audio device such as an earpiece or headset, be certain you are plugging it in with the radio turned OFF.
Lack of transmit can also be a sign of a bad battery or bad battery connection. You might try swapping the batteries and see if the problem moves to the other radio.
If these are less than one year old, use the number in your user guide to contact Motorola for a possible warranty replacement.

Best regards.

Issue using headset with motorola talkabout md200

You may have one of the following issues:
1) Defective headset or non-compatible headset. Try the headset on the other radio to see if you experience the same problem.
2) Headset is not plugged in all the way, until you feel a click.
3) Your radio's jack is wobbled out, or defective. Try moving the plug in or out slightly in the jack to see if you can find a sweet spot. Jacks can be worn due to plugging and unplugging chargers or audio devices repeatedly.

Tips:
1) Just as you have been doing, make certain the radios are turned off before plugging in any audio device.
2) Once you plug in the device and turn on the radio, press the PTT button once to initialize the PTT capability.
3) If you continue to have difficulties, reprogram the radios back to a basic operation, shutting off any special features such as call tones, Qt filtering, interference eliminators, weather radio capabilities, etc. Sometimes going back to this basic mode will alleviate the problem. Then one by one you can add back in the features you desire.

Hope some of this helps. Best regards.

My Motorolla Talkabout T5530 will not transmit sound when I press PTT button. Also when PTT is pressed, all the displays come on, why? How do I get radio to function back to normal?

Hi,

Yes it is a Motorola, no it is not made in Malaysia, USA or UK, but mass produced in China under license, and there my friend lies the problem.

From personal and from the many others who've posted on this forum re: Chinese made radios, they are ****, and a waste of money.

Very little info available, and what is available is written in CHINGLISH, which is a mongrel to understand.

Spend little, get little....

Spend more, get more...

That's what I did and still do on ebay, for a trusted brand from $150.00 upwards, you will be doing yourself a favour, stay clear of any radio equipment made in China, it's rubbish.

Cheers,
Peter

Motorola talkabout MR350 headset only sends audio and can not recieve

Likely not compatible. One thing to try is to make certain the transmitting unit is turned OFF when you initially plug in the headset. Sometimes if a headset is plugged into a radio when it is already ON, the headset will appear to be in VOX (voice activated) mode and will not allow the user to receive. Also, if this headset has an inline PTT, it may not be compatible with the radio and you would need to use the PTT on the radio.

If this doesn't work, you would need to use the TalkAbout headset designed for the MR350.

Best regards.

Motorola Talkabout 5700, 60 second timeout?

The 60 second timeout is a feature which is necessary to keep from burning up the final amplifier in the unit. It keeps the user from ruining their radio. Most radios, including business radios have this feature. Continually holding down the PTT will also run the battery down very quickly.

It would be best to try getting a regular baby monitor.

Motorola T5622 VOX Not Activating with Autocom Sys I have an Autocom (Kit 300) motorbike coms system. I bought the accessory cord that interfaces to the Motorola T5622, for VOX I have followed the Motorola...

Hi Folks, two seperate checks to do - to check vox on autocom and transmit on motorola. With the T5622 unconnected to anything, does the push transmit button work - e.g. does it make the beep noise at the end of transmission?

Does your autocom work with any other sound sources - i.e. mp3 player so you can hear music. Does this mute when you speak ? (it should if vox is working). Note that in this setup vox is provided by autocom - NOT BY THE T5622. The instructions you mention are for the motorola vox kit.

Wire the two together and you should get the motorola beeping through your autocom at the end of transmit - that's what my kit 200 does with my T5622.

Transmission problem

Hi,

A couple of things you can try:
1. Use electronic contact cleaner (spray type) on the PTT switch;
2. Use an external speaker/microphone and/or handsfree VOX headset
3. Replace the PTT switch. 4 solder points. Might not be easy but doable.

The last would require that you remove the defective PTT switch and use that as per sample when looking for replacement. Some printers uses the same type of switch. Familiarity with electronic components/circuitry, use of a DVM and a soldering iron would also be required.

Hope this be of some idea/help. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Motorola Talkabout T6500 will not transmit.

Are you sure the batteries are ok?, try to change the batery, check the radio battery contacts, verify if when you press the ptt, appear an icon on the display that correspond to TX function. Try to use an audio accesory to TX, if all this fail, you should replace it. Good luck
