Maytag 300 Quiet Series Dishwasher - release latch to open/close door is pushed up into "compartment" and stuck; dishwasher door will not open

If I am understanding Michael's reply correctly, "power" is referring to electrical connections - this seems to be a manual problem with the part that is pushed in and held to open the door - it is stuck up at the top of the "compartment" it is contained in - never happened before, no idea how it happened even . . . I have no clue what a door striker is, and if I have to open the door to check the gaske4t, than I can't since the door is stuck shut - as you can tell, I am no mechanical whiz! :)

Hi, I have the same exact Dishwasher, and I totally understand when you decribe the handle is stuck in the up position. When I opened mine and looked at the mechanism from the inside, there is a torsion spring that allows the lock to activate when the door is shut. When the handle is pushed up to open, in normal operation, the handle stay's in place. When the door is shut, the handle springs and then snaps to a locked position. Can you turn off the electric to the washer from the circuit/breaker box and then try to pull down on the handle or push up.
Let me kmow what happens and add anything else to this post, and i'll try to re-create your problem on mine and try to reslove.

You will have to force the door open then replace the door switch assembly part number 99003347. Hope this helps. The door will be tricky to get open but keep working with the broken latch and it will eventually give way.

Sounds more like one of the door/latch switches is not closing properly and that is why you are not getting power to the control board. Look at the door striker first to see if it is ok (section 6; parts) Next, look at the door gasket and see if it is ok and not holding the door open. This model has a problem where the handle must be depressed fully upwards to allow the latch to clear completely without straining the mechanism. The lip on which you pull open the door gives the operator a better handhold to force it open even when the mechanism is not fully depressed. Do this enough times, and the plastic tabs on the handle begin to fatigue and eventually break. The handle becomes lodged but can be forced down to eventually open the washer. By this time, a specific portion of the latch that depresses a micro-switch will most likely be broken, and the washer won't turn off if the door becomes ajar. Remove the torque screws along the inside perimeter of the door and you can spread the face panel open to access the latch unit for replacement.

How do I replace the latch on my maytag quiet series 100 dishwasher?

Unfortunately, the Maytag quiet series models have plastic latch handles that are prone to crack after time.

You should be able to order a replacement handle through a distribtor.

If you can, unlatch/open the door. Using a star screwdriver, unscrew all the screws on the inside of the door frame.

Once all the screws are removed you should be able to separate the inside of the door from the latch assembly.

From there you'll need to squeeze the latch handle together and replace it in. I'll warn you that it feels like you have to squeeze the thing so hard you might break/crack it on your own. It is a hard/tight fit if I remember correctly.

One last thing you may want to do to is check the food grinder in the middle of the washer. Sometimes the cracked pieces of the latch can end up there stuck in the grinder causing it to be louder than it should.

Hope this helped.

Maytag Quiet Series 300 smells broken door latch and lower rack

I have had the same problem and there is a simple fix.

The problem in my case was the floating water sensor was stuck and gummed up with grease.

On the bottom of the dishwasher, in the front right corner there is a round doughnut-looking thing. This is the water level sensor. It is open on the bottom, and grease collects there.

When this happens, the air pocket is too small, and the float won't float. then the dishwasher overflows. To clean it: just reach under with your finger, and scoop out the grease.

Sometimes, after doing this, the float then gets stuck in the "up" position. When this happens, the dishwasher completely drains, and the heater element for the dishwasher is exposed, and food cooks onto it, and that is where the smell is coming from.

Broken maytag door latch assembly Maytag quiet series 300: the latch is not working, door is closed and cannot open, seems something snapped inside, how can I open the door ? and change the broken part ?

To open this latch, the handle works as a lever to push inward when you push up on the handle. If your handle if broken, it has probably ceased to work as a lever (the pivot pins have likely broken). You want to push in on the handle to open the latch, ideally toward the bottom of the handle opening. Once you get the latch open, you'll likely want to order a replacement (here is one source : http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Door-Latch/W10130694/1266678 ). Remember to turn off the power to the dishwasher, and you'll need a star head driver to remove the screws from the inside of the door to access and replace the latch.

Maytag quiet series 300

Maytag Quiet Series 300. The lights flash in sequence starting from the outside traveling inward. The timer counts backwards from 50 to 1. Then the sequence starts over. and continues over and over. I'm able to clear it when the time reaches 1 or 2. It stays off for a while (3-4 hours) then starts over. I can not clear the countdown until it reaches 1 or 2. After I clear it the dishwasher will work, but until then, no way. This happens with the door open or closed.
