Yes it does. After hooking up the external monitor simply right click anywhere on the desktop, select properties, settings, and then change the monitor profile to your desired setting.

Good Luck,

How do I add a 2nd independent monitor when a splitter cable does nothing but carry the #1 monitor display?

The rear of the unit has both an HDMI and a VGA output connector. If you have a digital-ready monitor with HDMI and a monitor with a VGA analog port you can run a cable to each. The on-board video adapter will detect the second monitor and support it. My computer has a VGA, DVI-DD and HDMI output and I am running THREE monitors off the onboard video.

Connecting 2nd monitor to acer aspire 5600u

If you have another outlet to connect just do it (e.g. VGA+DVI, VGA+HDMI, HDMI+DVI). If not you have to use another videocard that supports multiple monitors.

Add monitor

to add a second monitor first make sure your laptop has a VGA connection (newer laptops have replaced these with HDMI or DVI, if you have these connections then use them)

now plug the VGA into the port, if the laptop is setup right it will pick it up automatically. if not you will have to do it yourself

so first right click on the desktop and go to screen resolution
in this new window there will be an option to either duplicate or extend with the choice of which monitor to use.

set it up how and as you wish if you are going for more than one screen it is recommended you buy a desktop with a graphics cards that supports up to 3 monitors

Monitor won't stay on

how is the monitor connected to the computer? what connection type is the monitor is it VGA or HDMI . What format is the computer video output is it VGA or HDMI. Also you may have two video outputs on the computer. Sometimes the motherboard vga output is disabled so that a much better video plug in card can be used which has its own video output port.

How do you connect LG W2261 VP Monitor to HP Pavilion 6310uk Desktop

The computer has VGA, DVI-I (dual link) and HDMI ports. The monitor has VGA, DVI and HDMI but only came with a VGA cable. Some computers have recently come with shielding covering all of the ports except the one that is currently live. Thus, check your hardware; the computers I've seen with only one active port, the HDMI port was active before resetting the video options. So get an HDMI cable (it will provide the best signal in addition). If the DVI-I port is currently live, you should get that cable as well and then change the settings to enable the HDMI port.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(you do not need to get the super-expensive cables; the low end ones will be fine. However a single link DVI cable is not the same as a dual link cable; sometimes using the wrong cable leads to no signal to the monitor.)

Hi Neil,
Any screen will do.
It is now worth a resolution of 1680*1050 (perhaps Fujitsu)
I recommend using a slot card or change the one installed with one with 2 outputs (eventually HDMI or HDVI.

Monitors need to be plugged to ports called VGA (blue) or HDMI, DVI (white)
If you instead have decided to use the USB you need also to find a USB adapter like this: http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/uu110/z-Traxx/NewerTech-USB-Video-Display-Adapter.jpg

With Windows XP you can hav the possibility to mirror or extend the Video going under Right Clik on Desktop/Properties/Settings and select here the 1 or 2 monitors.

No, it should boot with booth, you have only onboard video and as long as the drivers
are installed you should be able to use both VGA and your hd port.
At boot it uses generic drivers so both should work.

Check your screen and make sure that is set to run with the port you used on it.

So check your manual to see if you need to switch from VGA to HD port, then check the monitor for settings.

A display splitter will only mirror the screens, you cannot extend the desktop via a splitter.

Most portables cannot support dual monitors without a docking station.

Two thing to remember on this situation....

First:

On your laptop make sure you switch the dual mode view on your laptop, if you installed your video driver correctly right click on desktop, select there option switching into dual view or extended view, alternative is hold down the FN button or your laptop keyboard and press the Fucntions key (look for the function key with the monitor icon) press and release it while holding the FN key until there is a video on your external VGA monitor.

Second:

If the settings on your laptop is ready for dual or extended view, look for the SOURCE button or your monitor, if not available look for the AUTO button, pressing the Auto button automatically searches the available signal on the VGA, HDMI, or other sources of video on your monitor.
