Okay, Sears service on telephone was wrong - there is no latch. My husband and I took off the three screws at the bottom of the center panel, removed the panel, unscrewed the white cap to the hose and cleaned out the drain. We also unplugged the machine from the electrical outlet for 60 seconds.

After we put everything back together, the machine filled with water. We just hit the drain/spin cycle and it got rid of the water.

The machine is draining well now and we know how to open the access door in case there is ever another blockage in the drain hose.

My electrolux washer/dryer pedestal will not stay closed. I am looking for how to order the part

Good Afternoon Dani, thank you for your post!
From my understanding your Electrolux pedestal is not remaining closed. You may need to replace the latch or rails inside of the pedestal. I can provide you with further part information once I have the model number of the pedestal. You can locate that information on the door frame of the pedestal. I look forward to helping you further. -Matt

Passenger door open

BMWs have solenoid actuated door locks (electric box that sits on top of the door latch - some years integrated into latch) that electrically "deadbolt" the locks. The door panel will have to be removed with door locked/closed (may result in damage to panel), electrical mechanism removed from latch, and latch manually unlocked. It's a very effective theft deterrent system, but when it fails, it can be a severe pain. The failure is quite common; they should almost be a regular service/replacement item on BMWs.

Hope this helps,
-Scott

Need to remove the drawer from the pedestal

Two screws is all that needs to be removed. These screws have a nut so you will need a wrench. The screws are located at the front of the metal rail that the drawer rides on. Empty the drawer, remove the screws and slightly lift and pull the drawer free.

If you are having a problem with the door staying shut like I did the part responsible is the little white square box called a 'Latch' located at the front bottom of the casing, in the middle held by two screws. A black 'strike' on the door inserts into this Latch. If the strike is good the latch should be the problem.

Strike Part Number: 137006900

Latch Part Number: 137006200

Here is a web page with a break down of the parts: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Electrolux-Parts/All-Products-Parts/Model-EPWD15RR2/1412/0153050/R1007111/00001

To access the inside of the pedestal two screws are what need to be removed. These screws have a nut so you will need a wrench as well as a screw driver. The screws are located at the front of the metal rail on each side, that the drawer rides on. Empty the drawer, remove the screws and slightly lift and pull the drawer free.

If the strike is good the latch should be the problem. I took this part to Lowe's where I purchased my units. I found that this wasn't under my warranty, but they called and ordered the part for free. I just have to wait 7 days, I hope they ordered the right part!

My door lock has locked with the door open , how do i get it to unlock ?

There is a manual unlocking tab located at the bottom of the door lock and switch assembly. Disconnect power to the washer before accessing it.

Remove the three screws attaching the toe panel to the cabinet then pull the panel down and off the cabinet. Prop up the bottom front edge of the washer or cushion and lean it against the wall for an easy access of the screws.

Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door lock and switch assembly on the right side.

Locate the tear-drop shaped tab then gently pull it down until a click is heard, and then open the door.

The door lock and switch assembly may need to be replaced if the problem persists. Disconnect power to the washer and open the door. Remove the door gasket retaining hoop by stretching apart the retaining spring at the bottom of the door opening.

Gently peel the part of the door gasket near the door lock/latch assembly off the lip of the right side of the door opening. Remove enough of the door gasket to access the door lock/latch assembly behind the front panel.

Remove the three screws securing the door lock/latch assembly to the front panel and slightly lift it then pull it back off the front panel.

Pull the door lock/latch assembly out of the washer and disconnect the wiring harness.

Connect the wiring harness to the new door lock/latch assembly and install it back in place behind the front panel.

Secure the door lock/latch assembly and put the eased part of the door gasket back into position over the lip of the door opening.

Check that the door gasket is properly seated before putting back and securing the retaining hoop around the lip of the door opening and the door gasket.

Door will not open

Most of them front loaders have a service panel to access the pump so you can get a sock or something out of it. you can drop that panel and reach up under the door and yank a cord that manually releases the door latch.
