Question about Maytag Neptune MDE5500AY Electric Dryer

2 Answers

A rib on the inside of the dryer drum fell off. It loooks like it could be easy to reattach of I could get it open. I followed earlier advice about removing two screws at the toe kick panel although i am not sure if they were the right screws since they were on the side not the front. There are no screws visible on the front. How do you release the top with out damaging your enamel paint?

Unplug the dryer, open the door, take out the 4 screws holding the door on and the other two opposite the door screws, remove the door and pull the front panel off, spin the drum until the baffle that you need to repair is down in the right hand corner, you can reach the screws from here,if you have to take out the top metal bracket on each side so you can lift up the top,you might be able to get to it that way,

there are screws on the inside they go thru the drum, you would need to open the front of the dryer, to access them.

2 dryer bars

The bars are called BAFFLES P/N: 12002559
They are attached by 4 screws through the drum. You must pop the top to reinstall the baffles. Take one of the baffles to the hardware store and buy some good fitting screws. Then pop the top 660ff1d.jpgand use a screwdriver to reattach them. Fairly easy to fix. IF you have the old ones. Do dry tennis shoes in there. Oopz LOL

How do you replace a belt on model 11060622990

Unplug the dryer.
Remove the lint filter.
Remove the 2 screws at the lint filter opening.
Use a putty knife between the top lid and the front panel to release the clips.
They are about 2 inches in from right and left sides where the top meets the front panel.
Lift the lid towards the rear of the dryer.
Look inside the top right and left corners of the front panel and remove the screws holding the front to the cabinet. Remove the door switch wires and set the door aside.
Place the new belt over the drum, ribbed side towards the drum.
Look under the drum for the belt tensioner. It is S shaped with a wheel on it.
Place the base of the tensioner in the slots below the motor pulley.
Feed the right side of the belt through the opening under the wheel with the smooth side of the belt touching the wheel.
Place this side of the belt over the motor pulley with the ribbed side touching the pulley.
Replace the front panel.
Hook up the door switch wires.
Replace the panel screws.
Reattach the top lid and lint filter screws. Replace the lint filter.
Plug in the dryer.

One of the 3 "ribs" inside the dryer drum fell off. How does one go about getting to the outside of the drum to reattach the rib with its screws.

older models you take screws off around the top, check for them by lint filter too. then you pry the front(spring clips) and swing it open, back usually has a cheap hinge mechanism.

I have a Kenmore 70 Series gas dryer, model 76712691. The dryer has 3 plastic ''tumblers'' inside the dryer, to help the clothes tumble. Two of the tumblers have fallen off inside, leaving big holes inside...

Pull the dryer away from the wall, there is no bottom on the dryer, so the screws should be on the floor.
You can then pop the lid up from the front and fold it back. When you do, you will see the drum. Roll the drum around until you see the holes and reattach the tumblers.
You can also access the drum from below. Tip the dryer on its back and you can see the drum from the bottom.
Good luck.
