Engine rev "noise" coming through

New Subaru RS with in dash dvd sat nav etc. Had a amp and new speakers installed but now get an engine " whine" when the car revs through the sound system.

Installers said I need to get a RCA cable from Subaru to fix the problem, but no one at the dealership knows what I'm asking for.

Is this right? and whats the part called ?

Hi first check the ground wire from the amp. It needs to be to a body bolt that's less then 18" from the amp and is clean no paint ect. raw metal. Also the rca wire to the amp should be ran on the opposite side of the car then the power wires. This should reduce engine noise. They also sell a noise reducer that helps in vehicles that are wired correctly but still have a engine noise.

My Kia makes a whining noise upon acceleration- engine seems to be ok at freeway speed

check the condition of the alternater etc drive belts , to test rev engine and spray a little WD 40 onto the belts, if the whining goes then if your lucky a new set of belts will be all you need to change , but it could also mean a bearing is wearing out on one or more of the components that are being driven by the belts ,so more diagnosis would be needed if still whining after new set of drive belts

The dinging from the dash is the Air bag system check. Check that the bulb in the dash isn't burned out. The stalling and spitting could be clogged converter. Check how much exhaust is coming out of the tail pipe when you rev it. The smoke could just be from a leaking valve cover gasket.

The basics, your battery is used to provide power to the starter. Once the engine is running the alternator then provides current to recharge the battery and run all of your electrical components. so I would suspect the starter is not working to start the engine.

if you are lookin at your rca's you have the centre pin and on the inside in between the centre pin and the outside of the rca put a bit of wire there and plug it into your deck then connect the other end to an earth

have you got the power wires running down one side and the rca's down the other

or you can goto an electronics store and buy an rca noise suppresser

Forester 1998 Battery & brake light switch on

Check to see if your Alternator belt is still on.. If it's connected to your power steering it won't work and your battery will not charge. Also if you hear a whining noise in your engine replace the belt if it's there.

High pitch noise from engine compartment in 2003 Subaru Fores

There is a little beeper that sits just behind the front grill close to the Subaru emblem. It makes the sound you hear when you press the remote to lock or unlock the doors. It sometimes whines for a while but eventually stops. I have had this for a couple of years and it does not appear to have caused any problems.

Loud engine whine (like a jet noise) from 2002 subaru forester

Have you crawled under the vehicle and personally inspected your exhaust line from manifold to tail pipe? The roaring sound usually occur when there is a hole in the exhaust line. I had it happen to my forester before. A hole half the size of a dime made my subaru sound like my old 74 chevy pickup.

Can you put factory sat nav in an X5 when it does not already have it in

Hello There

Yes it is possible to install the factory sat nav in you X5, but apart from the head unit you will also need:

  1. new wiring loom
  2. dvd navigation unit installed at the back
  3. TMC radio unit again at the back
  4. bluetooth unit
All the interior needs to come out i.e seats, floor carpets, door trims.

If you feel brave enough then there are BMW forums which gives you very detailed information on how to to it, but don't expect to get it done in a day or even two, a week is probably realistic time. It took me 2 weeks to do my first 3 series.

Hope this helps. Please don't forget to rate me.

Many Thanks

Engine noise from Legacy 4000W 2 channel amp

Hi Justin,
Send me the specs. on the speaker ( voice coil impedance), amp, power wire size, and box
As for engine noise ( alternator whine) 99.9 times out of a hundred it's caused by what's called a ground loop, That will take a little trouble shooting on your part. It's no big deal. It will be a step by step process. All you need is two alligator clips or a old RCA cable.and a couple feet of wire. I'll try to get to it this evening,
Oh, and you will have to pull the head unit out of the dash... P
