This link will download the manual from the Abit website. It should have the parts fairly well labeled. Good luck.

If there is a disk in the cd device the bios is set up to boot up from there first. So if you have a xp OS disk in there that is what will happen . Remove the disk and it should boot from the hard drive if it is properly loaded.

After testing the memory, gfx card a different hd my PC still turns off at some point once it hits the desktop, took the battery out but nothing seems to stop it shutting down.

The CPU and cooler are they installed properly? Is the Power connector pluged in correctly, both the 20pin + 4 pin and 4pin for CPU? The Black cooler over whats called the north bridge is it extremely hot? Need to keep it cool!

Usually gets as far as the desktop before shutting down

This problem could be associated with over heating. Clean it of any dust, pay sepcial attention to the CPU cooler. It might also be a problem with software. If you turn on your PC without a hard drive installed, is it stable on a screen that says NTLDR is missing or Insert System disk. If it is stable on this screen for a long time longer than say 20 min. Then I would say that it is a software problem. If not then hardware problem!
It would be so nice to help you in person!

Installed a new processor and now it wont work

Is that an upgraded processor? If it is, then somehow, it could be its configuration problem with the older processor on software side. Your previous installation of OS remember its past processor and reporting error.

You can try fresh installation. Just for the input.

Hi lo alarm siren when playing online games

Hi stretcharm_2,

It seems that the hi-lo siren from the mobo indicates that the cpu is over hated.

1st of all, you need to go into the BIOS/CMOS setup to check if the temperature was boosting higher that the prefix alarm. If it's low, but gone up very fast after a few minutes, you need to update to the latest BIOS firmware, as it's part of the Fatal1ty problem.

you can download the bios here, be sure to read all the instruction before you proceed to update the BIOS firmware.

http://www.abit.com.tw/page/en/download/download_bios_detail.php?pFILE_TYPE=Bios&pMAIN_TYPE=motherboard&pTITLE_ON_SCREEN=Fatal1ty+FP-IN9+SLI&pSOCKET_TYPE=LGA775

PLEASE BE EXTRA CAREFUL WHEN UPGRADING THE BIOS AS IT MIGHT KILLED YOUR MOBO.

you can always come back here and post a comment if you r no sure.

2nd of all, you need to check is the heatsink was fixed properly.

It's not your fault that's the fan wasn't fixed properly because the stock LGA-775 socket T heatsink's design wasn't a perfect one, and it has 4 very fragile fix-in clips. You need to check if all four clips were fixed firmly in the braket for maximum heat dicipation. It might be broken and you need to replace with another one.

You might need to replace the thermal paste to a better 1.

Please check your manual on how to diassemble the heatsink.

Good Luck,

Don't forget to rate my solution, thanks!!

Blank screen at boot up

Sounds like you need a new motherboard how old is his computer but, before you start looking for a new board try resetting the main board jumpers maybe that will get it to work and if there are no jumpers remove the battery from the motherboard this does the same thing.
