What is a USB receiver?

If your computer is a laptop, most of (all) laptops comes with a built-in wireless adapter. And if it is working, you don't need one.

If you have a desktop (a tower casing, monitor, keyboard and mouse) setup, mostly they don't have built in wireless receiver. But if your desktop is custom built like mine, I have installed a wireless card in my desktop. But not really recommended. Since it sits in the desktop tower casing and if you need to get more signal and have to move around, you get furious because it is not mobile.
USB receiver or adapter can be extended via a USB extension cable (3 meter, 7 meter, 10 meter) and put it where the signal strength is high or remove it and use it on any other computer (laptop or desktop) with a USB port.
So, if your computer is not equipped with a wireless adapter/card built in and need to have wireless access, you need to buy a usb wireless adapter. These days they are as cheap as 8$ to 50$.

Hope this helps.

How can I get a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse adjust for better reception

<p>Want a better keyboard and mouse get? Look in the Bluetooth receiver. Receivers can be internal (the motherboard) or external (USB). Bluetooth signals span of 33 meters or 10 meters, so a mouse and keyboard should be able to work anywhere in this area, while the receiver is not blocked and there is no interference. <br /> <p><br /> <p>1. Find your Bluetooth receiver. Each computer is different. Laptops have a small round recipient, either on the side or front of the notebook base. Desktop computers, indoor or outdoor antenna or Bluetooth "dongle" that plugs into a USB port. Check your manual if necessary. <br /> <p><br /> <p>2. Place your keyboard and mouse to the side when an aluminum casing. Newton Peripherals recommend this step because before 2009 most Bluetooth receivers were on the side of notebook computers, and the cases of aluminum and magnesium blocking Bluetooth signals. Newer laptops have one receiver in front of the cabinet, allowing for better reception. <br /> <p><br /> <p>3. Avoid placing the mouse and keyboard directly to your desktop computer. The components built in front of the computer can block or interrupt the Bluetooth signal, so put your mouse and keyboard on the side or at an angle to the computer. <br /> <p><br /> <p>4. Interference check and surface. Bluetooth uses radio waves and FM radios can interfere with the signal. Make sure the devices are not turned FM. Make sure you're not the keyboard and mouse on a metal surface or reflective surfaces because both can interfere with transmission. <br />

How to connect to laptop

Using a wireless mouse with a laptop is a convenient way to avoid using the laptop's built in mouse.

Moreover, even if you use an external mouse, carrying a wireless mouse is easier than the wired version.
Here is how to use a wireless mouse with a laptop.

Ensure that your laptop is compatible with a wireless mouse.
Most wireless mice use Bluetooth technology.
Any Bluetooth enabled laptop can connect to a Bluetooth wireless mouse.
Unpack your mouse and insert batteries to the battery chamber.
While doing so, make sure that the positive side of the battery is inserted into the positive niche in the compartment.

Place the mouse in a way that makes it easy for you to use and less stressful for your fingers.
Use a wireless receiver if your laptop does not have an built in wireless receiver (either Bluetooth or 802.11b).
It should be kept at least eight inches away from the laptop or any other object that would cause any interference.

Insert the drivers, if any, for the mouse to function properly.
Connect your receiver to the laptop by plugging in the mouse's USB connector to the USB port of the laptop.
If you do not have any free USB ports, simply use an external USB hub for more ports.

There is no bluetooth instaled on my pc! where can i download it?

Bluetooth is not software, but hardware. Cell phones come with bluetooth built in, so all you have to buy is the bluetooth headset. But computers never come with bluetooth as far as I know. You can buy a sound system for your computer that works over bluetooth frequencies, but that is not built into the computer. If you wanted to use a hands free headset on a computer, you have to buy the bluetooth receiver as well, and plug it into the USB port.

How to install bluetooth on my laptop..my bluetooth lisence is not working..so i really need help..

Toshiba is an electronics company that manufactures various products, ranging from televisions to computers. Some of the older Toshiba laptop models don't have built-in Bluetooth technology. To use Bluetooth on a model like this, you need to purchase a USB Bluetooth dongle and install it on your laptop. Installation and use of these devices is simple.

1.Switch on the laptop, and remove the protective cap from the Bluetooth dongle.
2.Plug the Bluetooth dongle into a free USB port on the laptop.
3.Wait for the laptop to load the necessary drivers. When this process is done, a notification will appear above the system tray (bottom right corner).
4.Right-click on the Bluetooth sign in the system tray to use the dongle. "Send a File" allows you to search for other Bluetooth devices and transfer files to them. "Receive a File" makes the laptop visible to other Bluetooth devices. In the "Options" menu, you can change the Bluetooth name, pair the laptop with other devices and manage various settings.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

Troy Windconnect printserver has stopped working

Due to tolerances in manufacturing, some Bluetooth-adapters/receivers do not stick to the Bluetooth-standards exactly. If this only applies for one adapter/receiver in a pair everything works fine nevertheless. But if both do not stick to the standard, they might not be able to work together, although both would work with a standard-conform third one.

Before your mainboard was replaced, only your printserver was not exactly standard-conform. Now with a new mainboard (and therfore a new Bluetooth-adapter on it) just by accident your Bluetooth-adapter does not confirm to the standard, too.

If all this is right in your case, the solution would be to buy a Bluetooth-usb-dongle for your notebook and use this instead of the built-in Bluetooth-adapter of your notebook. If this new Bluetooth-usb-dongle confirms to the Bluetooth-standards better than your built-in adapter, this might cure the problem. Since such a Bluetooth-usb-dongle only costs about 10 Dollars, it might be worth a try.

Greetings, Michael

Connection problem

You will have to have the wireless receiver connected to the laptop. If your laptop has a bluetooth receiver built in, you could get a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. They also make small bluetooth receivers that plug into a USB port.

I hope this helps,
