Margin Release problem

I just got a new 300 ML tonight and it is a nice little typewriter, but I cannot get the margin release to work. I hold down the Alt and the "MREL" (3) at the same time, and try to backspace to the left, but nothing happens...same for the right side. Any ideas?

Unlike the manual states, you have to release the Alt + MREL before you backspace past the margin. Then it works.

Repossition the print head by using the BACKSPACE or SPACE BAR then again hold ALT as you select the new Left Margin or Right Margin (4=L MAR or 5=R MAR)

How do i release the left and right margin

Move the carriage (print head) to the margin you would like to clear. When you hear the beep, hold down the [ALT] key and press [6]. Now use the backspace or the space bar to move the carriage to where you want the margin set. Now hold down [ALT] and press [7] to set the left or [8] to set the right margin.

How do I reset the right margin for my Brother ML300

Hi:

Most of these small portable typewriters have dual function keys. You need to find the keytop that has Margin Release on it. It might say Mar Rel. If this in in a color that is different then what ever else is on the key then this is a daul function key. What this means is that you also have to look for a code or mode key. Once you find that hold that key down while pressing the Mar Rel key once. Then release both keys and use the backspace key to back up through where your left margin is currently set. Once you have done that you can reset the left margin at that point by findind and pressing the Left Margin key. Note that the left margin key might also be a dual function key.
You can extend the right margin by spacing to it and then doing the same procedure above , but this time release the right margin and space throught it and then reset it where you want it.

Good Luck

The margin release is not working on ML 100 typewriter

You must have the carrier at the exact margin in order to release it. To release the left margin, hit the RETURN key, then MODE with Mrel. For the right margin Depress TAB or SPACEBAR to get to the margin and then MODE and MREL keys. NOTE: Make sure the typewriter is not in L/L MODE.

Margin settings

You have to hold the magic margin button down while you move the carriage all the way to the left, then release the margin button. Then repeat for thr right margin. Hold the right magic margin button down while moving the carriage all the way to the right, then release the margin button.

Change margin

Do you see the lmar and rmar above the number keys printed on the cover? Move the carriage to where you want to set the left margin Then hold down the ALT key and depress the corresponding number key under the lmar symbol. Repeat for the right margin.

Left and right margins of typewriter on Brother ML 500 Memory

Hi:

First find the margin release key and press it once. Then use the spacebar to move the carrier forward and reset the right margin. Or again use the margin release key by pressing it once and then press and hold the backspace key to move through where the left margin was and reset it at the point where you want it.

2. Hold down the margin release key.
3. While holding down margin release key, turn on typewriter.
4. release margin release key
typewriter will now begin to type on it's own.
5. Turn typewriter off and then on again
all settings will now be cleared.

Margin Release for Brother GX-6750 Typewriter

Typewriters have alimit to how far to the right or left that you can set margins. Once you use the alt & 6 key to bypass the current margin setting then move to the new setting then hold the alt key and touch the 7 key to keep it in the new position.
