Question about Pioneer Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a 50 inch pioneer plasma screen. I know the power board is bad, due to some blown components. What I don't know is what type of diodes to use. The board has alot of different ones, and most are numbered, but unfortunately two of the ones I need are not. I am wondering if there is a generic diode, or if these little guys are special. They are the smallest on the board, there are a lot of them and the only markings are a sideways F and what looks like an A. There are no color bands. I have the schematics, but they are of no use.Any help would be great.

OK. The numbers next to the diodes are D188, D189, D190 and D191. Thank you. This info has eluded me.

Sorry about that. The model number is Pioneer PDP502mx/mxe. Hope this helps.

No worries about the delay. I did some research on my own as well. I was actually able to get my hands on a schematic as well as a parts list for the PCB. This has been invaluable. If you should ever need a manual for anything, might I recommend a web sight called :s100 These guys have it all.Thank you for your help. As always, it is greatly appreciated.

What we need are the circuit designations for the parts in question. There should be a number on the PC board either nest to or under the actual part. Post those numbers here and I'll look up the parts. These should be Dxxx or ZDxxx or something similar.

I didn't realize it until now, but without the model number, I can't get the into for you. Can you please update this with the model number?

Sorry about the delay. I just heard back from my Pioneer contact. Unfortunately, there are no schematics for the individual boards for your set, only board interconnection diagrams. These units were board swap only. Unless you can locate another board and read the components themselves, you are out of luck.

My panasonic viera Plasma tv just went dead?

in no stand by power indicator, the first place to be checked will be the power supply board . check for blown fuse but before you replace new fuse you must need to check first bad component like shorted diode, transistor and transformer. then if the power supply board now working good then still the tv won't open check bad component at the SU or SD BOARD.

TheTV made a loud pop and the screen went black. Now I have blinking red lights.

You probably blew up a capacitor. Unplug the television and open up the back. Check for bad caps. You'll probably find a puffy one. Check the fuses to see if they're blown. If you find a blown fuse, start looking for bad diodes or a bad transistor. If you don't know what I'm talking about then don't ruin a good television set by poking your nose inside and blowing something else up or end up zapping yourself when you touch the wrong thing. Take it to a professional and get it fixed. Good luck.

On my 50 inch pioneer plasma I have a faded section thoughout the middle of the tv . about 4 " on each side does not have this ?

This can have multiple types of solutions for your problem that you are experiencing. It can either be your Logic Board (T-Con board) going bad, or it possibly be some parts going bad on the power supply board. In some cases I have found out that it was the ribbons connected to the actual plasma screen that are not connected tight enough, so when you apply some pressure to the outer ribbons ( you may have to try each ribbon to see if any of them fix the problem) usually I use a thick card like baseball card to apply pressure on the ribbon pushing it downwards. In most cases it will be either the upper left ribbon or right, again trying each one is your best bet if you are planning on diagnosing the problem yourself. If it does end up being the ribbon then that indicates the screen is going bad. Hope this helps

Tv keeps turning on and off

You probably have blown capacitors on the PSB-power supply board. Recaping with new UF caps works 90% of the time. The set turns itself of into a fault protection to keep from damaging more components internally. A few bucks a soldering iron some solder should do the trick.

Samsung 50 in. HPS5033X/XAA colored lines running vertically and won't go away.

How wide are the lines. Do they change width? Where on the screen are they located?Connections on the c boards at the bottom to the panel flex cables or bad c board itself can cause 2 inch wide verticle bar. Before touching these connectors be sure power supply is disconnected from the 2 sustain boards on the sides. If you don't there will be an arc that will destroy the flex cable thus you will have to replace the panel. If C boards or connections don't fix it the replace the plasma panel. If the lines are thin lines then panel is likely bad. Contact Panasonic even if out of warr they may help.

Pioneer pdp 502mx goes to standby no picture after power on

Contact Pioneer at 1-800-421-1404 about getting an in-home power supply replacement. This is a known issue with some plasma displays. Some of you would experience a loud pop and then the power supply fails. You get a red light below the ON button, when you press on, the red light will turn green for a second and then back to red. The plasma display will not turn on after the power supply fails. Call Pioneer at 1-800-421-1404.
