Boot Manager is compressed???

here are two solution:
1.
"BOOTMGR is compressed. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"
Check points for fixing compressed boot-manager:
Boot into Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and perform a "Startup Repair".
If the above doesn't solve the problem then boot into WinRE again, but when selecting the Vista-installation, then press "Load Drivers" (Instead of "Next") and use the mini Windows Explorer to right-click the boot-drive and deselect "Compress this Drive" and choose Apply to sub-folders and files.
If that also fails then boot into WinRE again, and go to the "Command Prompt" and execute these commands:
compact /U C:\bootmgr
compact /U C:\ntldr
If you for some strange reason have lost your Vista DVD, then you can also use a Windows 2000 / XP install CD and enter the recovery console instead and execute the following commands:
attrib -c c:\bootmgr
attrib -c c:\ntldr

2.if the above solution did not work for you try this easy way:
reboot, push open the dvd drive, load OS Vista CD/DVD, before the ridiculed bootmgr compressed shows, shutdown, boot from the dvd, let the installer do it’s job.
when reach choice “install now” choose “repair the pc” instead.
In the System Recovery Options dialog box, choose the drive of your Windows installation and click Next.
click Startup Repair.
Just click “load drives”since you know the answer about “repair”….nothing wrong..)=:
see that??, you’re inside your HD!! I assuming that from here everybody knows what to do, if not, that what follow:
Browse for your “C” Drive, right click properties and fellas, reverse what you did, exit, reboot.

I was given an Acer Extensa 4420 shortly there afrter i turned it on and the boot manager was compressed. is there a fix i can do myself for free

Try to boot up into the Recovery Console. If you can get there, go into explorer, right click on the boot drive(it is seperate from your c: drive) and de-select "compress this drive".
If that does not work and you can somehow boot to a command prompt, go there and then type compact /U C:\bootmgr and compact /U C:\ntld
If that does not work, borrow a windows disk from someone you may know and enter the recovery console off of the disk and do the 1 step above.

Boot manager is compressed. Press ctrl+alt+del to restart. Same happens when i restart. My cd/dvd cant read cds or dvds

I am sorry to hear that your CD/DVD can't be read but in order to resolve your issue you need to have that drive working or have an external DVD/CD Drive to be able follow the below procedure and to resolve the compressed Boot Manager.

· Insert the installation DVD(Vista or Windows 7) in your Disc Drive and then power up your computer

· Click Repair your computer.

· Then click on Load Driver.

· Go to Computer.

· Right click on the partition your installation previously compressed> Properties.

· Uncheck "Compress drive to increase space available".

· Close all windows to restart the computer.

Boot manager compreessed

Sadly the startup repair option or any other repair option in windows 7 startup recovery failed to solve this problem. this can be solved by

reboot your pc

select the repair your computer option

command prompt

at the prompt type notepad (since the recovery option boots from a seperate wim image it has notepad built into it )

press ctrl + o which invokes the open file dialog

go to the open file field (ALT+N) and type c:\boot and also see for the c:\bootmgr
file. right click it and deselect the option of "compress files to save disk space"

when we apply the boot manager is again decompressed. also if someone finds this harder we can directly deselect the compression option by reversing the process used to compress the drive

thats it . we are done

Toshiba Satellite a135-s4427 Boot Manager Missing

its not the hard drive my frined, its the boot loader it has been deleted or it has been compressed the only way to fix this is to use the recovery cd you have, to boot from cd-rom you need to go into bios which is usualy F2 or F5 key, then under boot manager or somthing is the primary and secondary boot, change the primary to CD-ROM, then save it and restart then it should boot from cd-rom then you have do a start-up recovery.
