Try installing the driver from the Dell WEB site.
You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, thesupport download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. Hi I have Acer Aspire 5610Z. I change my OS from Vista to XP Pro. Now my webcam doesn't seems working through yahoo messenger. Please suggest.

If you have had the webcam working ok with VISTA and now that you have installed XP, it is not working.
You will need to visit your device manager and look under imaging devices. ( if you can see the webcam or camera, you just need to load software to run your webcam.)
If you have any flags under imaging, remove them and also look for unknown devices, if you have anything under unknown devices, remove that.
Afterward, you should go to the ACER website and download the webcam drivers for windows xp. And install it.
After all is completed, you can go to cyberlinks web site and download ucam.
Hope this helps you.

How to disable the Windows XP Splash Screen / logo at startup ?
To disable the Windows XP splash screen (logo) at startup, and to see the list of drivers loading at startup, follow these steps:
Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG
Click the Boot.ini tab
Under Operating Systems section, select the appropriate entry and then enable the /SOS switch in the Boot Options section below
Click OK and close MSCONFIG utility.
The corresponding entry in the Boot.ini file is automatically added. Example given below:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(5)\WINDOWS="XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
becomes
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(5)\WINDOWS="XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /sos
The /sos parameter displays the names of the drivers as they load during the boot process. Use when startup fails (while loading drivers) to determine which driver is failing to load. See Boot Parameter Reference for more information.
Also see /noguiboot parameter, which can also disable the splash screen.

Downgrade my Toshiba from Vista Home Premium to Windows XP Pro

You are correct... and for some, doing the downgrade to XP works out great... You can get the drivers you need from the web... it is best to get them before you do the downgrade/save em to a cd or flash drive... that way you're ready to load em immediately after XP install
