Check engine light and vsc light reappeared after paying a local service station 90.00 to fix problem 2 days later. He recommended if reappeared to have to ''smoke the engine'' Concerned he knows what to...

this not a major problem, we try to resolve, 1st to do look for fuse box in your car uder hood, then remove EFI fuse few seconds (15), connect the fuse , now start the engine and test, maybe you paid 90,00 for this proccedure. if light come again, go to a good workshop and make to check air and gas filter, oxygen sensors, good luck

What could cause a dell flatscreen monitor to go

Probably a bad power supply in the monitor. One of these days it will go black and stay that way.

Flashing pf

pf indicates power failure, even a slight glitch in the power can cause this. If stop/clear does not clear the fault, unplug the unit for a few mins. and plug back in. pf may reappear, again press stop/clear, this should clear the error at this point if it had reappeared. if not then further investigation will need to be done.
