1994 dishwasher doesn't clean as well as it did a few months ago. Are there filters to clean or service tips? Seems to cycle OK.

Most dishwashers have self cleaning filters which would not require attention unless unusual items or amounts of debris were in the dishwasher. Your most likely problem area would be the holes in the spray arms are plugged with debris.
By the way, the average life of a dishwasher is 9 to 11 years. Newer models are generally quieter and more energy efficient, and many states are just rolling out their government sponsored energy star rebates. (similar to the car " cash for clunkers" program but much less money, and administered by each individual state. These rebates vary by individual states, and will go fast. (where I am, the rebate is $150 for dishwashers and starts March 1. 2010) Might be something to look into.

Glasses are cloudy and cutlery and dishes are not clean. using cascade with dawn powder. dishwasher is brand new, installed one week ago

Sorry to hear your having problems with your new dishwasher. Please review your owners manual for great tips for the best results on cleaning your dishes. Here are a few steps to take to get your dishwasher working:
  1. Run you sink water for 3 min on hot before you start your dishwasher. This allows warm water to enter the dishwasher and helps aid in sanitizing and cycle time. Remember water entering must be at 125 degrees.
  2. If your using power detergent be sure to use rise aid. All new dishwashers require this additive for best results.
  3. If you have hard water your going to need a dishwasher cleaner and use it once a month. I recommend dishwasher magic. Kills 99.9% bacteria and leave a great scent. I use it myself.

Disconnect the heater and give a try without any load and soap. If it

Appliance: Fisher&Paykel DD603 Draining

You may want to check up if the water collects in the bottom drawer when the top drawer is in wash cycle (ie, taking water from the inlet) or during the drain cycle when it is draining water out. Leave the bottom drawer open and check while the top drawer is running.

Upper tray does not wash clean, bottom does

The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

They weren't lyin', with the new improved energy effeciency and cleaning units they using more "soaking" times to losen food particles to use less water and clean better. And that they deffinitly do versus old units and they save more energy by doing this also. On some makes and models theywill have cycles that still use less time but also will then use some more water during this cycle. My SEARS store "blue crew" did research and found out this cycle for me.
