That is normal for a wireless with encryption.
you will have to get a high speed router and wireless card to match,of course as you go up in speed then you need to consider a better signal so you will have to spend more to get a longer range . 802.11b is very slow. g is only a bit better.
you can put another card in the system to assist in downloads.

I need to find a " Internal Network Adapter " , I`ve search high and low and had no luck can you help?

The internal network adapter is just a network card. You should have one already in your motherboard, the connector looks like this.phat3.jpg

If you need to buy a network card you can do it here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833156139&cm_re=network_adapter-_-33-156-139-_-Product

If you live in the US.

Need to reinstall program that manages my network adapter---how do I go about it? I have a dell inspiron laptop-windows xp. Thanks in advance.

You don't really need one as you can use the windows wireless config utility.
If you have an internal network card then go to your manufacturers website and download the drivers from there.

I can't activate my internal wireless card my laptop is dell latitude D800 helpp please!!!!!!!! xxxx

Try going to your control panel, click on system, open the system propertie's, in the system propertie's box click on the hardware tab, under hardware click on device manager, in the device manager find network adapter's, click the + next to adapter's, right click on the wireless network adapter then left click on propertie's, in the wirelss network adapter propertie's box check to see if it's enabled, in the device status window it should say this device is working properly, if it's still not working try using the troubleshoot tab to resolve the problem, or you may need use the wireless network setup wizard.

TrueMobile won't connect to my network

Over the past few months I have seem more of this issue. I am beginning to think that there may be Microsoft updates that could be conflicting with the wireless network adapter config. But this is only a speculation.

In the mean time, you may have a faulty wireless card. If the unit is under warranty, have Dell replace it. If not, you could disable the internal one and purchase a Linksys Wireless G or N USB adapter from Staples....just to rule it out.

Internal wireless card has been disabled. How do you fix this?

Hi car7924,

First, make sure that the wireless switch on the left side of the computer is turned on (this should make the WIFI light go on -- beneath the lower right corner of the screen). If it doesn't work, then try going to Start Menu > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections.

You should see the Wireless Network Adapter in the window that comes up. If you don't, you need to download the driver for that adapter. The most common adapter in the D820 is the Dell 1390 WLAN MiniCard, and the driver for it can be downloaded at the following web address:

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Other-DRIVERS-TOOLS/Others/Dell-Latitude-D530-Wireless-1390-WLAN-MiniCard-Driver-A17.shtml

If, on the other hand, you do see the Wireless Network Adapter, but it says "Disabled" underneath the name, then right-click it and select "Enable." This should make it work.

I hope this helps - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind regards,
H2H
