Garmin nuvi 1390t won't read or recognize microsd

The 1390t works with microSD cards. Your 8GB card is actually a microSDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it will not work in older devices.
You need to go with microSD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Can I use 8GB SD cards in my Canon Powershot A620 camera? I thought I once read that it will only support up to 2GB SD cards.

The A620 uses MMC and SD cards. SD cards max out at 2GB in size. Larger cards are actually SDHC or SDXC cards and will not work in the A620.

8MB or 8GB? If it's actually an 8MB card, you'll be able to put maybe two or three pictures on it, so I'll assume it's an 8GB card.

The DX4530 is designed to work with SD cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While SDHC cards will fit into SD devices, there are electronic difference that prevent them from working there. SD cards will work in SDHC devices but not the other way around.

You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Why can't I get pictures off of an 8gb but I can off of a 2gb chip?

Some cameras cant manage/format large size memory cards as they where not made to handle that size. Check your user manual which should tell you the maximum size memory card your camera will take.

SanDisk ULTRA II 8GB won't read when installed in a laptop. Works fine in the Digital camcorder. Trying to import the footage on to a Fujitsu tablet laptop (12 months old). Reads the standard 2Gb memory...

No, it's a hardware issue. Your 8GB card is an SDHC card (the HC stands for High Capacity), but the card reader in your machine is clearly only compatible with the older type SD cards. SDHC devices will accept SD cards, but devices designed solely for SD cards cannot read or format SDHC cards.

There is no firmware update for this, your only fix is to buy an external reader compatible with SDHC cards for connection via a USB socket. Most new readers are fully SDHC compliant, but check the specs for shelling out your hard-earned...

It doesn't read 8gb sd cards on internal sd drive

There are two types of SD cards. The first, standard type, had a capacity limit of 4GB. But quite soon the technology advanced and higher capacity Flash memory has been developed, so the standard had to be revised - and SDHC was born (HC stands for High Capacity), which includes cards having 4GB and above.
There is an overlap, as you can see, because there are 4GB CD cards, and 4GB SDHC cards on the market.

Now your DELL is an older machine, and it's card reader is not compatible with the new SDHC standard. And it will not be, even with a BIOS update.

You have two options: find a 4GB SD card (they are hard to find, majority will be SDHC) and stick with this capacity, or purchase an USB SD/SDHC card reader, which is cheap, and use it to transfer files to/from your 8GB card.

Sd Card reader not recognising SDHC cards

When You Insert your SD card into the internal card reader, then the SD card is not recognised by the system and the SD card drive doesn't show there. The problem can be because of driver issue, system issue and device issue.
To fix the problem you need to go at device manager if there is a yelllow sign in SD card controller, the problem is most probably caused by a driver issue. Then you need to update the driver. You can also download the driver for your card reader.
Also, check if your SD Card is broken. You can also check it into different devices port.
If it is detected then you can backup of your data.

If the problem not resolved by any means and you require you SD Card data then I will suggest you read - https://www.stellarinfo.co.in/services/removable-media-recovery.php

you could set a password in the BIOS, but as far as a operating system password goes, it would be difficult, at best, to reset a password without being logged in first.....
