Press the cc key on the remote control once at a time until the close caption feature displays off. you will see the display will take you through cc1,cc2,text1,txt2 etc. just keep hitting the key until it says cc is off. you should get the block out after this and view your tv normally.

Hello.
You can use buttons that are located in front of the TV as well.
Press "menu" button and locate "picture" or "video submenu. You can use some buttons as directional ( they have arrows that indicate where you can move highlighter on menu). To choose option you can press "Select/enter" button.
More info in your TV owner's manual.
Regards.

Need caption taken off

Hi, the only other way would by going into the menu or display mode by pressing the corresponding key located in the front of the TV(if available) and using the other keys to scroll down the list to where you can access the audio features. you'll have to look for the caption heading once in the audio select menu and keep pressing the select key untill the cc feature says off, this should eliminate the black box blocking the picture.

Big black box while trying to play movies

Hello there, sorry to hear about your issue. Usually this indicates that someone has hit the CLOSED CAPTION button or possibly the PIP (picture in picture) button on the TV remote. There is nothing wrong with the xbox, it is actually a setting on your TV. Check the remote to see how you can disable closed captions.

Black spot on screen

Your son turned on the closed captioning text mode. The black box is where it would appear if there were any text. Go into your setup menu and turn off the captioning, or restore the factory presets.

A black box appears on the screen

Hi,
Just happened to see your black box problem associated with your T.V.; Thought I would pass along an idea for you to check into, and let me know if it helped...Check into whether or not it has a onscreen text block mode, if it gets into this mode by accidentally pressing the wrong buttons on the remote and or TV, it could and I have seen, at least with zeniths, a big black box which will cover the whole screen except for a 2 to 4 inch border around the box and outer edge of the screen...if this is the case, find someone familiar with the correct setting for the set associated with this problem, and get it back into the right mode....Hope this helps..T.
