Maytag washer PAV2300 water over flow

Fairly new washer, no problems until now. Regardless of load size selected tub fills to top, then over fills. Water continues to flow during agitate cycle. Water continues to flow after rinse cycle, Water continues to flow during spin cycle. Water flows after shut down. I closed water supply valves to save water. Seems solenoid may be stuck in open position. Do I need to replace water inlet valve ? This looks like the part from a short internet search. http://www.partselect.com/xq/aspx/Inventory.60378/qx/PartDetail.htm?SourceCode=6 Thanks for any help. I have water inside the washer that uyou can here not see. You can here it swash around under wear you would put your clothes in. All drains are clear. I have even tried tipping it over to get the water out. the washer is new and believe it had to big of a load in it. Everything still works but you can still here the water

From what I am reading on-line, it is the mix valve, aka water valve. Unplug the washer, then see if it still fills. If so, it's most likely stuck open, and needs to be replaced. about $22.00

The problem is simple and easy to fix. Your washer has a tubing which runs from the base of the tub to the water pressure switch. It might have vibrated loose from the switch, or their can be some sediment in the tub. Blow out the tubing and reattach it securely to the switch and pump out the water in the tub. Then try it again. I wrote an article about this:

Maytag pav2300 wont stop filling up. New timer

After the water fill, Switch off the mains, allow little water bleed through the hose that goes to the level switch. As the water flows try fixing into the level switch block.

Clean the water drips to dry and switch on the m/c. It should be alright since you say that the switch is OK when air is blowed!

Maytag washer will not fill

If it wont fill properly it sound to me me like a preasure switch. Take the control panel off and look at the load size selector switch (preasure switch). This has a hose connecting it to the wash tub. Follow that hose back to see if it may have some kind of blockage in the line. If not you may need to replace the switch.

I had the same problem and went out to a website for Maytag washers. That website advised that the problem could be mechanical or electrical. In my case, the problem was a clogged tube and it took only ten or fifteen minutes to fix.
0. Unplug the machine.
1. Open up the front of the washer. Along the left hand side is a long transparent tube. The tube connects to a wallet size container on the side and near the bottom of the tub.
2. Inspect the transparent tube. It may be clogged where the tube meets the wallet sided container.
Note: When the tub is full, it creates pressure in that wallet size compartment which sends air up that tube to a pressure switch located within the panel at the top of the washer. The pressure switch flips and tells the machine - stop filling the tub with water. My machine had a visible clog in the bottom of the tube that carries the air from the bottom of the tub up to the pressure switch.
3. Disconnect the tube and clean. I used a pipecleaner to get most of the mold out. To completely clear the tube, remove the top panel and disconnect the tube from the pressure switch in the top panel and blow air down the tube.
4. Reconnect, test - and you should be good to go. If not, your pressure switch may be dead.

check your hose from the side of the tub all the way up to the water selector knob. if its loose or has even a pin sized hole in it, it will cause the maching not to sense it has reached the level selected.

Check to make sure your drain hose has a loop at least as high as washer top.  If the drain hose is not looped higher than tub water will continue to drain and it won't stop filling.  If it doesn'y reach the correct fill level it won't agitate.

tidalwave If the water continues to flow even when the washer timer and the power to the washer are off then you are right and the water inlet valve has to be replaced. If it does it only when the washer is on then it could be different problems. In that case the first thing you have to check is the water level switch. This is the device which controls the water level. Remove the power first.Open the control panel and you will see the switch on the left side. There is the clear plastic hose connected to the switch. Make sure the hose is not loose. This is one of the most common cause of overflow. If it got loose, drain out all water from the washer before you reconnect the hose. If this is not the issue then you have to check the continuity across the water level switch therminals. When there is no water you should measure the continuity across therminals 11 and 12 (gray and orange wires). Whet the tub has filled up with water you should measure the continuity across therminals 11 and 14 (gray and light blue wires). If the continuity is wrong replace the water level switch. If you are going to do it, make sure there is no water in the tub before you will remove the clear plastic hose from the old switch. Good luck. Gendos. post back...
