Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

Dell latitude D800 LCD problem.

I was trying to replace the backlight of the above-mentioned LCD and the flex cable that attaches to the LCD from the LCD electronic board separated from the bottom and top right hand side of the LCD frame. Can this be repaired?

The cable is not torn. It is disconnected from the LCD. I will get electrical glue to do the job. Thanks for trying anyway.

If the cable has torn then it is about impossible to repair and even if you repair it with conductive tape it is not reliable due to the shaking a laptop takes. My experience has been that it is not worth even repairing backlight assm. - I spend the time looking for a cheap screen assem on eBay.

Dell latitude d800 not switching on ?

I may have addressed this question earlier. If your Dell shows absolutely no sign of life... no LEDs, no nothing and you know for certain the battery and/or power adapter is good then...

If you have access to a docking station (ANY Dell dock that will mate with the bottom connector on your D800), put the D800 in the dock and use the power button on the docking station.

If the laptop powers up, you may have a simply problem with the laptop "Press to turn on" button.

ABOVE THE LAPTOP KEYBOARD...
Use a small flat screwdriver blade to remove the Center Control Cover (just beneath the display/cover hinge and above the F1-F12 keys). Locate the cover's flat ribbon cable connector above the Page Up key. Pull off and carefully reinstall. Try the power button now. If it works, put everything back together. Otherwise seek profession help.

My dell latitude d800 dosnt start. no cursor no splash screen ..only lightning some buttons..

Hi,

If you see power lights but nothing appears on the screen, it could be a "POST" (Power-on Self Test) problem or simply LCD problem.

Here are some steps that you can try. One of these may work on your case.

1. Remove the battery and the ac adapter then press the power button for at least 20 seconds to drain electric charges left on the system. (You may need to repeat this step to get it work.)

2. If above step doesn't work, try to plug in an external monitor and see if you get display from the external monitor.

3. If you get display from the external monitor, I'm sure your having problem with the LCD components. In this case, check and replace faulty LCD backlight, LCD cable or LCD inverter. The LCD inverter is often a culprit.

4. Try to reinsert the memory module/s (RAM) of the unit, try using one RAM at a time to see if it works. A faulty RAM will cause the laptop not to POST.

5. If reinserting the RAM doesn't help, most likely your motherboard needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps.

The backlight won't turn on but occasionally will flicker.

Suggest you replace the Inverter. A Backlight goes out all at once.
90% of the time the Inverter is the hardware part at fault.

[ An LCD screen cannot produce enough light by itself.
A Backlight is used to supply the needed extra lighting.
A Backlight is a CCFL.
Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp.
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses, but on a much smaller scale

An Inverter is used to required power for the LCD screen, and the Backlight.
Boosts power up for the LCD screen, brings it down for the Backlight.

Dell Support > Latitude D600 Notebook PC > Service Manual

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd600/en/sm/index.htm

Replacing an Inverter is a simple job. Replacing a Backlight is not.
The Backlight is located within the LCD screen assembly.

The metal frame of the LCD screen assembly is removed along the edge where the Backlight is located, to access replacing the Backlight.

In the above list for Service Manual, click on > Display Assembly and Display Latch.

This information shows you where the Inverter is located on a Dell Latitude D620 Notebook PC.
The Latitude D620 is part of the Latitude D600 series of Notebook PC's.

Just one place from a quick search, that sells Inverters for a Latitude D600 series Notebook PC,

http://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=2895

MATCH the part number listed that they have, to the part number on your Inverter.
You have to have THE correct Inverter.

Dim screen

Its going to be either the lcd or the inverter more then likely. Go ahead and unhook the lcd cable from the motherboard and the back of the LCD. Reseat the cable into the LCD and the motherboard. If its still dim then the best thing to do is to replace the LCD cause it comes with the inverter.

Try removing the battery and plugging it into the wall. then turn it on, if it turns on your battery is bad or connected improperly.

Dell D800 display out of order

You can find a great many displays for sale on e bay from great places for rather cheap. I just repalced the mother board on my Inspiron 600m for $119 direct from Japan right off the line. As for replacing, it is rather easy.... there are little rubber stoppers around your screen about the size of pincle erasers. Under these is screws, undoo the screws to remove the plastic housing. Then where the power button is, that strip of plastic comes up easy from either the left or the right... you will see a little slot for a small flat head scew driver to go in to pry up the side. Pry it up and (make sure you have the screen laying flat ie, all the way open) and pull the strip up but not to hard, it should come up pretty easy. This will give you access to the connection for the cables to the screen. Then it is just undooing the screws that mount the hinges and then screen from the back pastics and then repeating in reverse.

The following is a link to a 15.4" lcd for the dell D800 on ebay that includes the plastics and hinges, so all you would have to do is remove the plastic by the power button and then it is plug n play.
