Hello, The need to replace the power cord on a Vita-Mix 5000 but I don't know how to get inside the case to replace it. The only 4 screws that I can see seem 2 small to hold the two parts of the case together. ( my wife ran the power cord on top of the stove and very much cooked the power cord.

Switch must be bad, remove the four screws on the bottom they are under the feet, then check switches, and replace broken one.

We just had this problem. Called VitaMix and they talked about resetting the thermal protection switch inside. They suggested lifting the base down firmly, but gently, on the counter to help the internal switch reset. I did it while they were on the phone and, sure enough, the machine came back to life. Hope this helps.

Yes that is strange, if you let it cool down and try it again with pushing the re-set button and still does not work, try plugging it into a different outlet. Find something in your place that you know outlet is working, lamp, toaster you know. If does work in another out let, then you of course griped that breaker. Then check your breaker box to see what breaker is tripped, and switch it back on, might just of had a power surge based on putting on reverse. If that don't work, I suppose possibly something in motor or switch went out. Please let me know, if it works, I will take a banana smoothie LOL
