I heard that chocolate and beetroot make a good cake combination. Is that true? It sounds really strange.

Martha Stewart has a lovely chocolate and beet cake recipe. Don't worry, you don't taste the beetroot, it just gives a really moist texture to the cake.

Try it and you'll probably be pleasantly surprised.

How to Make Great Drinking Chocolate

Hot chocolate is one of thoses childhood drinks that are amazing. It doesn't matter how old or young you are - everybody loves a good hot chocolate.
I've followed hundreds of different recipes but my all time favorite is this one. It's actually a Parisian hot chocolate recipe so not only does it taste great but it sounds very fancy.
Ingredients:
2 cups full fat milk
5 oz (130g) of good quality bittersweet chocolate ie high percentage of cocoa - chopped small
2 tablespoons of brown sugar (to taste).
Method:
1. Heat the milk in a medium pan
2. When the milk is warm whisk in the chocolate and stir until melted and very hot.
3. Cook on a low boil light for about 3 minutes but whisk constantly. Make sure it doesn't boil over.
4.Taste it and add sugar if desired.
Serve in small coffee cups for a really sophisticated look.

How many calories are in hot chocolate that you buy at a vending machine? It does not taste very rich so I would think not so many calories.

On average there are between 90 and 120 calories in hot chocolate from a vending machine. But it really varies depending on the company, so if you want to be very accurate with your calories, it's best if you prepare the hot chocolate yourself.

My mum loves hot chocolate and I thought a gift set of some kind would be great for her birthday. Any ideas?

Here are some sites that specialize in chocolates and also sell drinking chocolate. Their gift boxes are a really nice way of combining your mum's love of hot chocolate with something a bit special.

I love ginger and I think it would go really well with drinking chocolate. Anyone know any recipes they can suggest?

Thorntons make really great chocolates and they sell a ginger hot chocolate that looks amazing.

If you want to make your own you can try blending some fresh ginger, orange zest and vanilla extract. Then add cocoa powder and mix with milk in the same way you would normally prepare hot chocolate. Add sugar to taste.

I am diabetic. Can I drink hot chocolate?

if you drink it in moderation you can have hot chocolate with diabetes. It's better to make your own with unsweetened cocoa powder and then use artificial sweeteners to make it taste sweeter. You can use packet hot chocolate but you must read the nutritional information at the back so you know what's in it. You can also buy low-sugar versions.

Can anyone suggest any non dairy hot chocolate recipes for me?

You can basically substitute any non dairy products for milk and then follow the regular recipe for hot chocolate i.e. heat the 'milk' and add chocolate till it melts and stir in sugar to taste.

Be careful with the sugar amounts as some of the non dairy milks ie soya are quite sweet already.

You can try using almond or rice milk as well or just buy a non-dairy creamer.

Anyone have a recipe for a fancy hot chocolate for adults?

Nigel Slater has a simple hot chocolate recipe that is more about the taste of the chocolate and less about the artificial sugar.

Take 50g of good quality dark chocolate and grate into a saucepan with 250ml of milk that is almost at the boil. Stir the milk until the chocolate has completely dissolved and the drink is slightly thicker.

Stir in sugar to taste and you can even add some double cream. This recipe serves one person.

I left my phone in my pocket out in the hot wheather and i guess it got to hot and the screen craked now i only hv a very small space to use it by the craked part works fine but its black and u cant see...

i dont fullly understand what problem you have with your phone but i have had a problem sililer to this and it isn't easy to find any1 who would repair this 'cheap' but you could save quite a bit of money by buying a replacment screen for this phone off ebay
- (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LCD-SCREEN-LG-Chocolate-VX8500-VX-8500-tracking-/290457532851?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item43a09e39b3)
and also a replacment flex cable
(http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-LCD-Flex-Ribbon-Flat-Cable-LG-VX8500-Chocolate-/220645128446?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item335f7978fe)

and you could easily get your local phone repair shop to replace them for you, usually they dont charge much

hope that helps :)
