Hey mate,

First of all check all your fuel lines from your tank to your carb for cracks, with the carb it is common on these to leak past the needle and seat in the carb, I would remove the float and try clean up the needle and seat first, then if that doesnt work you should be able to purchase the needle and seat as a spare part and not have to replace the whole carb...

Most times this problem can be rectified with a quick clean up of the needle and seat as there could be some forign matter or debris under it, be sure to reset the float level/seat turn the carb upside down a check that the float is sitting level or parallell with the carb body...

Hope this helps

these carbs are kind of touchy. If you are handy, remove the air cleaner, Pinch off the fuel line. pull off the fuel and move it out of the way. Remove the nuts that hold the carb and and remove it, being careful when unhooking the linkage.Drain the gas in the bowl and remove the cap screw at the bottom of the bowl clean the bowl with spray carb cleaner, lay it aside, on som carbs the cap screw has a very tiny hole, pull a wire from a wire brush and clean the out. next look up the brass part hanging down and see if there is a slot for a screw driver and being very careful unscrewing the jet. Sometimes you need to put the carb in a vise and tap on the jt and turn it at the same time. After you get the emulsion tube ou there will be some small holes that will need to be cleaned with your small wire. Then spray all the carb holes with carb spray, remove the float and needle and spray this area and on the inside at the bowl base there may be a small round thing sme smaller than a dime you willsee a small slot that needs to be sprayed also. put the emulsion tube back being caRFUL NOT TO TIGHTEN IT TO TIGHT. Put the needle and float back in and then the bowl being careful with the gasket install the cap screw. and replace the carb being carful of the linkage, and attach the fuel line.. You may have to pull the plug and put about a squirt or two of gas or carb cleaner in the plug hole to help it start. Good Luck. if you have any trouble let me know.

Ran perfect last yr , gas was stale drained carb bowl and replaced gas it started up right away then cuople mins later it started blowing oil out of the oil over flow tube

Sounds like the Needle valve in the carburetor is stuck 'down' letting gas continually run from gas tank into carb. When the valve can't go up (Close) gas will run past the carburetor and into the crank case I bet your oil is full of gas. Check oil level see if it is overfull

The tecumseh carburetor on my mtd snowblower is leaking gas from the throttle hole on the side that is facing away from the engine . the carb is new and so are gasket i cant stop the gas leak

Gas is coming out of the area where the air filter would go IF a snowblower had a filter....That happens when the Needle valve is stuck open for some reason. Either the Float that closes the valve has a leak and sink in the gas or the needle is slightly rusted in the carb in the open position. you need to take the bowl off the carb and see if you can easy lift the Float and see the needle valve moving up and down. A;so see if there is gas in the float. There shouldn't be

My Tecumseh engine stopped running but was not out of gas. When I tried to start it would not and gas is coming out of the air filter. I took off the carb bowl and float seems to move ok

Your float might have a hole in it and is full of gas. You need to take it off and shake it to see if gas is in it, or float pin is faulty not closing correctly.

I accdently put deiciel in my go kart and i dont know how to clean the engine

Remove the fuel line to the carb and drain all diesel out, flush with new gas. You will need to drop the carb float bowl to drain out diesel from it. Consider allowing some fuel to flow out to flush the inlet passageway, put it all back together and start it up.

Snowblower wow's

tecumseh snow engines are natorious for not starting, first thing you need to do is take the old gas from the tank.gas only stays good for about 30 days.YEP .....that's all.there should be two screws that holds the cover over the carb.take the bowl off and there should be water and dirt in the bowl.clean that out,be careful not to drop the needle off the float.if you do it take a little patence to put it back on.now the nut you took off the bowl has three holes in the side of it.clean all the holes, one is really small and it's up twards the theads..replace the bowl gasket and reassemble the carb.now you should have fuel to the cylinder and it should start.if not let me know

Ariens snowblower ST724 leaks gas from the carbourater

The little metal peice with the wire ataches to the float at the hinge part of the float, if you use yahoo type in tecumseh carburetor diagram then click on Parts and Diagrams and the web address is partstree.com it will show you a breakdown of a carb and how it goes together. It may not bee your exact carb but they are all pretty much the same. It also sounds like you may need to rebuild your carb. If you get it back together and it still leaks, I suggest you take it to a small engine repair shop and have them rebuild it for you only cause you need a special tool for the seat and the float will have to be set.

Tecumseh 9hp craftsman snowblower will not stay running

First take the carb off of the engine and then remove the bowl, carefully take the float off paying special attention to the needle and how it is attached to the float. Next, lightly blow air into the fuel inlet while holding your finger over the spot where the needle goes in. Use a bread tie with the paper scraped off. Stick the wire through the pick up tube at the bottom of the carb. Find any other holes and probe those holes with the wire. Then thoroughly wash the entire carb with carb cleaner then blow the whole carb off. Then put the float and needle back in making sure that when putting the bowl back on that it seats tightly all the way around the rubber gasket. Also, just before you put the bowl on turn the carb upside down to see if the float is sitting level. If it is put the bowl on, If not then the spot where the needle sits on the float has to be bent one way or the other just a little until the float sits level. After the bowl is put in place, the nut that holds the bowl on the threaded area should have two possibly three holes plus the hole down the center, probe all holes with the wire. put everything back on the motor and try again. If it still won't run then you will need a carb kit.
