If this is a Whirlpool Cabrio, the washer has TWO pumps. One is the drain pump, one is a recirc pump. The easiest way to access the pumps on a Cabrio is to tip the washer back and work from the bottom. There is a rear panel access you can remove for added access, but it limits your ability to get to the mounting bolts. These washers are heavy, however, and removing any excess water will help minimize weight. The easiest way to do this is to use a wet/dry shop vac and pull a vacuum on the drain line. You may have to repeat this procedure several times as the Cabrio has an extra large capacity drum and tends to hold more residual water than most other washer models.

NOTE: Residual water in the wash tub, drain lines and pumps is NORMAL.

With the residual water removed, carfeully tip the washer back against the wall. Place a towel between the washer and wall to avoid marring of the washer or your wall.

NOTE: A second person is recommended to hold the washer in place so it doesn't not fall. When working alone, I have used blocks of wood (such as a 2x8 standing on edge) to block the washer up as a safety precaution.

As you are viewing the wsher from the front, the drain pump will be on your RIGHT hand side. The recirc pump is on the left. Either pump comes out easily by following these steps:

1. Make sure the washer is UNPLUGGED before you begin.

2. Carefully disconnect the electrical connection.

3. Remove the mounting bolts that hold the pump in place.

4. Remove the inlet and drain hose(s) from the pump.

With the pump free, you can easily access the impeller area and retrieve anything that may be caught. Drill bits and screws are commnly found as they will pass through the small holes in the wash tub spin basket.

I would begin with the DRAIN pump, first. It tends to be the catch-all for everything. If the drain pump is clear, inspect the recirc pump as well.

To reinstall, follow the steps I have provided in reverse order. NOTE: Some people prefer to remove the the drain hose before unbolting the pump. Choose whatever method you prefer.

If the pump impeller is damaged, the pump will need to be replaced.

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

How do I clean the trap filter inside my Electrolux Front loader

Good Morning Deanna - Sounds like you are speaking about the Coin Trap. Below are some basic troubleshooting steps you may wish to follow to clean the trap:
· Unplug the unit.
· Remove the bottom front access panel. There are two screws one on right and one on the left towards the bottom of the front panel.
· Now that the panel is removed look inside on the bottom right hand side there is a black looking accordion thing. This is the coin trap.
· Clean the drum out with as much water as possible that you can remove and have towels ready. The next step you will have the remaining water come out of the bottom of the drum and onto the floor.
· At the top of the coin trap where it is attached to the drum is a silver spring with a silver screw. Loosen the screw and wiggle the coin trap down from the drum.
· Reach inside the coin trap and clean what is inside of it out.
· Put the unit back together following the same steps backwards.
Hope this information proves to be helpful!

1. Unplug the unit.

2. Tilt the unit up to where the front feet are in the air and the back feet are still on the ground. Please make sure the unit is propped up safely.

3. Now that the unit is propped up look inside on the bottom right hand side there is a black looking accordion thing. This is the coin trap.

4. Clean the drum out with as much water as possible and have towels ready. The next step you will have the remaining water come out.

However, if you are looking to replace the pump completely, I strongly suggest consulting a professional for further assistance due to the difficult location of the pump itself.

My samsung top loader will only drain

Very easy repair. By dropping the hose gravity takes over allowing the water to run out. The buzzing noise is the propeller on your pump jammed.(Brawires, coins, hairpins) < common causes.. STEP 1:Drop hose down to remove water from machine STEP 2:Lean machine forward on a 45,rest machine on a chair. STEP 3:Bottom left of machine is a round black cap, remove the cap(turn anti clockwise) STEP 4: Put your fingers in the pump and pull out the coins, hairpins etc from pump. STEP 5:Turn propeller to make sure it turns freely, put the round cap back on then your done. Thanks

Our Dyson CRO1 front load Washer can not empty holes and complaining of coin stack in there. We have checked but there is coin in there, can you please help us?

if your machine runs ok until this point then try giving the filter cover a gentle tap
my machine had this problem due to the pump jamming
there was nothing in the coin trap but the pump itself was jamming i fitted a replacement pump it now works ok.to open the cointrap. you will need the dyson spanner or a small flat screwdriver to lift the lock on the cover it then unscrews anticlockwise. more information can be found in the instruction manual
if you have lost or mislaid them a download is available on the dyson web site
if you are unsure how to repair your machine a call to dyson will be needed
they will repair and test your machine

The washer makes a grinding sound when the tub is draining and flashes "02" "F". There is not an obstruction in the line. What should we look for?

"F02" is a Long Drain error code. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r615268-f02_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

Usually this means the drain pump is clogged any needs cleaned out. There is a follow-on link included in the instructions I provided that explain how to do this.

Read through the link and follow the steps listed. If these preliminary measures do not work, you may have to replace the drain pump. It does not take much to damage the pump impeller or motor on these drain pumps. Since the error occurs if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes, if the pump is damaged and not pumping at the required volume, the error code with continue to occur until the pump is replaced.

Replacements (if required) can be purchased at searspartsdirect.com, appliancepartspros.com, pcappliancerepair.com, or repairclinic.com. Shop all these sites for the best price.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: You cannot view the drain pump by tipping the washing machine back because it has a solid cabinet bottom that prevents viewing the internal cabinet components. It is NOT recommend to even attempt to tip this machine back due to its weight.

Kenmore Front Load Washer Won't Drain (Model #417.40052990)

The machine knows when there is water left in the tub and will not function properly because the level switch indicator is still open.Ok, to simplify this ,you have a clogged pump and if there is no access into the machine from the front then look at the back to see if there is.Open the panel and remove the hoses from the pump and remove what is caught in it.Also look into the ends of both the 2 hoses.Don't wash RUGS,MOPS,COIN MONEY,NAILS,JEWELERY,UNDER WIRE BRA'S,OR ANY THING THAT DOESN'T BELONG IN THE WASHER,cause these little things don't make it past the pump, therefor washer leaves water inside and error messages start rolling.
