Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

ViewSonic VE155 flat screen monitor I have 6 of these monitors which are used heavily in my office. They have serviced me fine for 6+ years. However, one by one they seem to be generating the same problem. If the screen is not in use, it could be as short as 4 minutes and the screen goes dark into sleep mode -- when I touch the keyboard or mouse, the screen comes back up and is "bleeched out" -- you can still see the program images but they are 'white-ish' almost like a blanched x-ray. Anyway, if I turn the monitor on and off by the button on the front of the screen, this image does not change. If I unplug the screen and re-plug it in, the image is perfect again. The perfect image will last the whole day if you are active with the computer.... If you step away for a few minutes and the screen goes dark, there is a chance the blanched screen will reoccur(it is not consistent - sometimes it will come back up just fine). Re-booting the computer with the blanched screen does not help. Is this correctable? It seems a waste to get rid of all these screens that otherwise work so fine. Thank you, Dave Stevens

Uninstall graphic driver then check.

I have a Viewsonic VE155 monitor and cannot get the contrast and brightness off my screen how do I get it off? it just started happening

Check to see if you can reset the electronics of the monitor to factory defaults. If no reset button contact viewsonic for a hidden code to accomplish same. If no results then your monitor is a sick puppy. Just to make sure plugh in another known working monitor to make sure that it is the monitor and not your computer.

You need to test the lamps or use test lamp to verify that the inverter circuits are working or not. Do get 12vdc at the inverter circuits? I do not think it has realy in this monitor, so is it the VE155 or some other brand?

ViewSonic 19" flat screen monitor goes black - intermittently

Hi,
There could be a problem with your display card settings or the display card itself. If you are using Windows operating system, make sure that you have the monitor driver installed for that specific monitor. This is to ensure that Windows only allows settings for which your particular monitor was designed.
Let me know if I can assist you any further regarding this.
Best wishes,
Graemevm

Viewsonic VX2235wm Horizontal Image Problem

Tricky one. Have you tried using different dispay resolutions from your Windows Display Control Panel?
ie 1200x1014, 1600x1400, etc.

When you say you used the manual adjust, do you mean the horizontal sync option?

Did you perform a Settings Recall?

And most monitors have a way of entering into an engineering "Factory Service Menu". Usually by depressing specific buttons while the monitor is OFF, and then pressing the power button while still holding the others. Then let all button go at once. From there, hit the normal button that you use for getting into the OSD. In the OSD, there's usually a new field with all kinds of cool new settings to play with. One of them being a soft reset. You'll have to search the net for how to enter into your Factory service menu.

Oh wait! I know!
If your picture has moved to the right, move yourself accordingly.
So that now you and your picture will be aligned properly.

He he he...
Kidding!
That one was from ViewSonic customer support.

Considering the price of monitors versus the cost of repair. It would cost less to replace the monitor.

Monitor turns on and off

Is it an HP or a Viewsonic screen ?

Either way, looks like a power supply problem to me, some Viewsonic screens are known to have a problem with their inner power supply card, If your screen is still under warranty I suggest you don't lose time analysing the problem and just make them come and fix/replace it

You could possibly have 2 problems with your monitor, though they are more then likely linked.

The Viewsonic monitors (like most) end up with buldging capacitors after several years use. This is typical of most equipment these days.

You can either replace the capacitors yourself or get in contact with someone local to you to have it done.
The reason I say there could be 2 problems that are linked is the fact when your screen does finally come on, it flicks the screen up for a second which would normally indicate a problem in the inverter circuit.

Because of the power fault though I believe it is more likely the one fault causing two problems.
With the capacitors failing, the voltage inside that powers the internal video board are not stable. That is what causes it to behave as it is.

On the homepage of this site you can use the Repair Service section (on the left side about half way down the page) to find a local repairman if that is the route you want to go.
