Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

My Whirlpool Duet GHW9200L washer is leaking water when it drains. I took the front cover off and it looks like it is coming from the hose that runs from the drain at the bottom to the top where the water actually comes out in the back. I can't see water coming from anywhere else. It isn't a lot of water but it is still a problem. Any ideas? Could it be the hose and how hard is it to replace?

Thank you for the info! You have confirmed what I thought. It is the main drain hose!

Hi,

A washer that leaks only during the spin cycle often has a leak in the main drain hose. Inspect the entire hose and correct any problem you find. Alternatively, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. This may be most visible during large loads and high water levels. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub--but that may not be an economical repair to make. Consult a qualified appliance repair technician for further details.

First, make sure that the washing machine is not too close to the wall behind it. This could crimp the drain hose & force water out at the connection behind the machine. This could also crack/split the washer machine's port (to which the drain hose attaches). Second, check the hose clamp for a secure hold at the washer machine's port, & check the drain hose for leaks & for insertion in the drain tube at the wall.

Hi - I have a Duet Front load washer and the error code I keep getting is F (only F, no number after it) and the machine is dripping from the bottom. Any idea what the issue is?.

Hello
Code F is a water fill error code.

Check All your incoming hoses for leaks or kinks.Check supply water inlets screens for blockage or debri.

Also have a look at your drain hose for blockage or leaks.

Water has started pouring out from under my washer

Hello, you've indicated this problem only arrises during the rinse cycle, is that correct ? The leak doesn't occur during the wash cycle initial fill level ? I want to distinguish the difference because there has been a repair tip issued by whirlpool for the duet and sport washer's. This may be applicable to your machine. If it is indeed only during the rinse, the problem is within the door assembly. Specifically the glass and it's "seat" to the frame. Let me know, I'll watch for your reply. macmarkus :)

My front load duet will complete a full spin cycle but still soaking wet

Are there any error codes on the display like SUDS or E02?

If so this means that it is still taking too long to drain.

When you are running it on the drain cycle listen or look and see if water is coming out of the drain hose.
I would remove the front lower cover put a pan under the white filter assembly. Remove the filter and clean the debris screen. And reassemble also inspect for kink hoses either outside or inside the washer assembly.

2003 Whirlpool Duet Washer clear water pooling in drum after use.

When the machine is off, there are only two ways water could possibly enter. 1 Check the drain hose install, that it is not installed deep in the standpipe, if the hose is shoved too deep, it can sometimes siphon (rare with front loaders) water back into the machine.
2. Most likely cause, a slow leak from the water valve. Sometimes the water solenoid will not close completely, and you will get a very, very slow leak into the machine.
If not the drain hose, try shutting off the water supply valves when done using the machine, if that takes care of it, you may want to replace the machine's inlet valve.

Whirlpool duet washer has stopped and the LED indicator says sud

The filter on your pump is probably clogged with lint and stuff. You have to remove the bottom front panel, 3 torx screws underneath. The panel will drop and come off. Drain off the excess water from the drain pipe you see. The white filter cover is right in front. Get yourself a good plastic bag to collect water. Unscrew the filter cover and twist the filter out. Clean out all the stuff and put it back in carefully. Check your pump too, comes after the filter.

Whirlpool fron load Duet washer leaks

Check the easy stuff first, fill hoses tight?- drain hose cracked? Failing those checks, cut a piece of cardboard slightly smaller than the size of your washer. Slip the cardboard under the washer and run a short load. Look carefully at the water mark on the cardboard. The mark on the cardboard the water leak will leave, will help you tell from which side or front to back the leak is common from. This will help point you in the correct direction to look for the trouble maker.

thanks.
