If you recently added any new "hardware" or a new thing onto your computer, you have to remove it....if this problem continues do a system restore.

Turn on your computer and press F8 or F11 depending on system....and select an option that says "Safe Mode" press enter, let it do what it has to (will take like a minute or two) login using the "Administrator Account" and click Start, Programs (All Programs on XP and Vista) and click Accesories, Click system tools and then click System Restore, Then click restore to earlier date and click next then choose a date where you had not had this problem...click next and next again...... THIS WILL DISABLE ANY "HARDWARE" THAT YOU HAD ADDED TO YOUR COMPUTER

  • Remove all USB attached devices like drives.
  • To eliminate possible bad RAM. Unplug PC, open case, and remove all RAM. Test one DIMM at time, one slot at a time.
Re-install Windows. Clean install works best, but all data will be lost.
  • Lastly you may have other hardware problems. If it does another blue screen after reloading windows, especially with a clean install.

Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) Important Info

When you get a Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) on your computer this can be very frustrating. Below is the info you need to get from a BSOD because the way that Microsoft words the message a lot of people miss the real important parts. With the right information this will helps tech support help you address your problem quickly.

The first thing to look at is the error message. A lot of times you will get a message like the one below that states "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA". In the case of this BSOD the error screen the error code is a generic one of 0x00000050 so we have to rely on message that tells us that the problem was with the memory or the page file.

The next thing to look at is the error code. Note you really do not need the info between the parentheses for standard trouble shooting.

So with both pieces info this will help tech support figure out where the issue is at and where to troubleshoot.

Note the file name that the BSOD list normally is not important in troubleshooting the in most cases it just point to the point where Windows had the problem.

Hi,

First off, we need to know what the blue screen error says. You need to get the first set of "technical info" that looks like e.g. 0x000007e. To get this, Tap f8 when booting your computer and on the boot options menu, choose "disable automatic restart on system failure" this should allow the blue screen to stay on your screen and you should be able to copy the information we need to troubleshoot your bluescreen error.

Post your details here so we can continue.

thanks for using Fixya.

Try reinstalling your windows. If you get an error on install the problem is probably in your hard drive, in which case you'll have to replace your hard drive and reinstall your windows. I really don't think it's a hard drive issue though. Sounds more like a registry issue but the easiest fix is to reinstall windows. Good Luck.

My Seagate starts to boot up but then goes to a dark blue screen(no words) and you can hear the H.D> working, then the computer beeps once and nothing further happens.

Hi,
the blue screen, is usually a Hardware Or Software ( operating System error ) The Computer beeping Once, States that The Computers Hardware is Fine. I,d try formatting the hard-drive, and reinstalling Your Operating System et,c. I,d assume this is a missing or corrupt windows system file. Or possible hard-drive error. ( virus-Trojan-Worm ) are also suspect.
