I have already disassembled the set and replaced the power board. I read the service manual and measured the indicated waveforms/voltages with a scope to determine this board was bad. I installed the new power supply board and turned on the set. It worked. Then I shut it off and it would not turn back on. I unplugged it for about 15min and then plugged it back in. It worked again!. I left it on for about 10 min and then shut it off. Now it won't turn on again. I unplugged it for about 30 min and tried again. Now it is unresponsive. Some times the amber light will show once or twice for a second then go out.

I saw no bad capacitors when I had it opened up.

x-33 says he has a solution for this set with these exact problems???

I mentioned a couple times that user x - 33 has a soution to a design flaw with this monitor. Is there anyway we can reference this?

  • kbostaph Feb 05, 2010

If the issue is the power on command from the signal board, is there a fix for this or is it the whole board? Could I duplicate the 5v signal? is it just a momentary pulse or does it stay on?

  • kbostaph Feb 05, 2010

I have a Samsung 403T (CK40PSNB) monitor. When I plug it in, sometimes the light will light amber for a second then go out. Set is completely unresponsive.
Sometimes monitor will turn on fine. When it does and then I turn it off, I can't get it to turn back on. Nothing, no light no clicking, nothing. I then unplug it for awhile. When I go back, it may or may not turn back on. If it does, I get the same issue. I can't turn it back on once I turn it off.
I replaced the main power supply board. Only difference with new board is that sometimes it actually turns on, before it did nothing but click once when you plugged it in.
    Thanks in advance!

I read your posts and agree that you have probably solved the power supply problem. My experience with fixing these units and what you have described in particular is that in many cases the control board either loses it's programing or it becomes corrupt and then the results that you describe show up. Perhaps you should check the control board or consider replacement. Let me know what you think. I can only offer my experience.

When the unit powers up does it look correct. No bow or other problems associated with the picture? With the power supply good you could be looking at a bad microprocessor or eprom. The simplest solution and probably about the same cost as trying to fix the board is to just replace it. www.encompass.com or www.partstore.com or www.shopjimmy.com should be able to supply the board at a good price. Check that possibility and get back to me.

With what you are saying I would pull the board out and resolder all the connections on it. If things work intermittantly it is usually due to bad solder connections. With the way things get soldered today it would not surprise me that this is your problem. Let me know.

Hi,

Before you Proceed, Disconnect the Power Supply, Unplug the Cord and then try to plug in after few minutes, say 30 minutes. If the Problem persists, more likely it's a Faulty Power Supply Board.

You need to have some electronic Experience to Open the TV and then you need to locate the Board. Once you find the Board, you need to pull the wires and try to Look for Swelled / Bulged / Leaked Capacitor. You need to go to Radio Shack or Order Online and then replace that. Once replaced, that would fix the issue. Usually, Bad Caps do have Ammonia kind of odor.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

Make sure the power supply is sending 24v to the inverters when you turn the set on your meter should climb but won't reach 24v because unit will shut down and if so we ruled out the inverters or backlight I seen this problem also caused by the signal board it has a power on command missing and it looks like the power supply is bad but actually it's the signal board, it may be labeled on the board a active high or low 5v which sends the command to the power supply.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

    Hope
    i helped you.

Check DC filter caps in the power supply section.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Samsung 403T no power

1) Fuse is good?
2) You must have 5vdc stanby voltage the minute you plug the set into the wall, this is a must have before going further. Please look for that first, then report back what you find. Pictures and Sch will be a great help. See example of my pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

My samsung syncmaster 2232bw wont turn on at all, and the pilot light(blue light surrounding power button) is flashing repeatedly at a fast pace, much much faster than the norm?????????

Solution for Samsung SyncMaster 2232BWplus:

The problem is bad capacitors: 5 pcs. 820microFarad – 25v and 1 pc. 330microFarad -25v. Replace these capacitors. Then re-solder the two transformers of inverter side. Also re-solder the power transformer and the inductor coil.
To open the casing:
At the bottom of the stand just twist the knob to unlock. Then, use a small flat screw driver beginning from the bottom (left or right) then using a hard credit card (or alike) then slide/glide it in between the cover plastics.

Samsung 403T 40'' monitor has no power. (CK40PSNB)

FYI, I have found the real solution for this issue with Samsung 403T. It is a design flaw which leads to this problem after a while. Luckily, it can be easily corrected, but it requires medium soldering/electronics skills.

Anybody interested in how to fix it feel free to email me and I'll provide you with the solution. Please make sure that the symptoms of your monitor are exactly the same with the ones described above.
