Question about Nokia N85 Cellular Phone
Usually the Main Reason for this Message is Faulty SIM.However, as you have tried different SIM'S which are working on other Models, this Confirms that there is a Problem with N85.
Few User Fixable Steps :-
1. Upgrade the Firmware, if available. This seems to do trick with many users it could rewrite the Functions of the Cellphone.
2. This Could be due to Poor Signal Strength.Read the Generic Guide :-
3. As one of the above Points i mentioned in the Guide, is this an Unlocked or Locked one. I have seen many times, the cellphone being locked by the Original Service Provider. So, you need to Contact them.
When you cell phone says"SIM CARD REGISTRATION FAILED" It means that handset has been permanently blocked to either receive or make calls. These are possible reasons :
(1) that cell phone is stolen
(2)the cellphone previous owner took it on a contract and never paid i.e unpaid contract
(3)the previous owner lost it so he/she reported it lost so the network will disable it
(4)the previous owner took it on account and he/she never paid that account and subsequently it was a bad debt or irrecoverable debt-the network will disable that handset.
IN SUCH INSTANCE,IT IS FUTILE TO WANT TO KNOW WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM AS THAT WILL LAND YOU TO TROUBLE>YOU MIGHT HAVE TO ANSWER FOR WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW.
If you have legally bought that phone from a reputable shop, you can take that up with that shop.If you bought it from someone ,hard luck you have lost.
YOU ONLY HAVE A CASE IF YOU HAVE GENUINELY BOUGHT THAT PHONE AND YOU CAN PROVE WITH YOUR RECEIPT THAT YOU HAVE PAID FOR IT,OTHERWISE.
Let me know, if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

In all mobile phones there is a SIM IC that has the capabilities of registering the SIM. When this IC fails, then the phone stops registering the SIMs. And if that happens then this IC has to be replaced which is quite a professional job. So please head for the Nokia Care.
I have also heard that Nokia scraps such phones but other private repair personnels can replace this IC.
