You can replace just the switch. Do an internet search for appliance parts. Select a retailer and enter the model number of your refrigerator/ice maker. This will bring up information about how to identify and buy the part you need. They have very nice exploded view drawings available to help you easily identify the part you need.

The ice maker tells the water valve to open so you will not see the power until the ice maker ask for water. Does the ice maker have ice remaining in the ice slots? If not then fill with tap water and after the water freezes and ice maker cycles dropping the ice into the ice bin if it does not refill with water then you will only need to change the=> 2315576 Water Inlet Valve If the ice maker does nothing you will need to change the ice maker=> 4317943 Ice Maker Assembly You can find trouble shooting info at Appliance 911

How do I access the Ice Dispenser Motor?

Paul, On most refrigerators you would first pull out the bin where the ice is stored. Above that you will see the entire ice maker. First turn off the water and electricity. You will be able to remove the entire ice maker. Before I bought another motor, I would check on the price of a whole new unit. You'll sometimes find that it's not that much different than buying parts. It all goes by accessibility. You can go anywhere and buy an ice maker, but when you only want part of one, then it's a different story.

GE side x side When ice maker switch is on, freezer warms up

It sounds like the ice maker is stuck in the harvest ( dump ) mode , in the area of mold heater activation . This area , heats up the ice mold to unfreeze the cubes , and keeps rotating to dump the cubes . This heater , gets hot enough to actually burn you if you touch the mold .
I would remove the 2 screws holding the ice maker , unplug from the ice maker receptical , and replace the ice maker .

Ice maker stopped working. The water is cool, the filter is new. Dispensing water, but no ice.

It sounds like the solenoid valve has failed. This is what regulates the water to the ice maker. Have it replaced and that should take care of the problem. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Ice maker will not harvest

As crazy as this sounds, turn the temp control a little warmer (counter clockwise). On this model, this control needs to switch to harvest the ice. A warmer setting should fix this issue.

Ice maker won't work

If you are sure that power is getting to the ice maker unit inside the freezer and you're sure that water is available for the ice maker...
Try these next steps:

Follow the water line for the ice maker back to the ice maker water solenoid
Follow the wiring from the water valve to its source - either a timer or circuit board
Check the timer and/or circuit board for any bad connections, burned connections and power to the board or timer. This arrangement can vary by refrigerator model number...

Kenmore side-by-side not ejecting ice

Did the ejector blades go around when you jumped it out? If they did not the the motor is probably gone and your going to have to replace the head of the ice maker or the whole ice maker. Check to see if home depot has a install kit for your brand. You'll probably pay less for the whole kit than the ice maker. But before you do turn the temperature down in the freezer.

The part number is #150 faceplate. This would be the motor and switches. Approx $55.00 Appliance parts depot would have it. Or try all brand parts.
