Zen Touch mp3 player isn't able to play tracks in windows media player 11

Hello,
I seem to have a simple problem. My Creative Zen touch 20 gb mp3 player is up to date with firmware (2.11.01) and my creative mediasource player is a new version (5.10.38). The player plays tracks fine when hooked up by usb cable on the computer both in the mediasource player and in the zen touch media explorer.
However, I would like to be able to have Windows Media Player 10 and 11 let me play and organize tracks from my zen touch. I downloaded and successfully installed the Creative Zen Touch PlaysForSure Firmware 2.11.01 from the Creative website, which says in the details below the download link:
"Enjoy seamless support with any computer running Microsoft® Windows Media® Player 10 or 11 and Windows® XP - no drivers or software needed."
and:
"Use the Sync feature in Windows Media Player 10 or 11 to synchronize your player with your music library and playlists."
So I am under the impression that I should be able to do everything in WMP 11 that I can with the mediasource player. However, that seems to not be the case. I'm stumped.
When I have the zen touch plugged in to the computer and run WMP 11, the zen touch is recognized by WMP when in "Sync" mode and shows how much disk space is left on the player, but when I press "playlists," "artist," "album" etc under the "My Zen" tab there are no files found. No matter how much I sync the player to the WMP, it doesn't work.
So...what's my problem, eh?
I appreciate any advice any of you guys has to give.
Thanks,
Chris

I had the same problem. tried to update firmware so it would work with WMP11 but it crashed halfway through then wouldn't recognise the Zen & the Zen went into recovery mode. I rolled back WMP, installed Zen Drivers rebooted the Zen a couple of times before the Firmware update actually picked up that the Zen was connected. updated WMP to version 11. WMP was saying that there files were on the device but I couldn't see them, I created a play list with the files on transfered the playlist over and now I can see the songs. Thanks ctf1800 for the solution!

How to fixya Creative Zen MX 16 GB MP3 Player

I realized my firmware was still 1.0. and tht it coudnt b upgraded to 2.x.xx till media player 10 was installed and media player 11 removed.before you do anything......back up all music on your zen touch because the upgrade to 2.0.xx deletes everything on your mp3 player and sometimes the player wont be readable after uninstalling .......then you can do an auto update: http://support.creative.com/downloads/welcome.aspx?nDriverType=1#Manualselection from the manual downloads page, I did.. and there was numerous updates tht popped up after removing windows 11 media player and the other item that was required in the instructions located here: http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?sid=16737 .
Hope this clears the air about upgrading the firmware to 2.0 so tht windows 7 can read your zen touch, sleek or other non supported creative-Tm hardware. I havnt finished upgrading yet because I Had so much on it that its taking me over 8 hours now just to sync my music with my computer so tht I wont lose the data when upgrading to firmware 2.x.xx

Middle of a firmware updated bricked my Zen TOuch

This solution is from another post, and it was how I recovered from the same problem. "I had the same problem and the solution is documented on the Creative labs message boards. This happens if you upgrade the firmware with a computer that has media player 11, Which KILLS your Zentouch. (Thanks Creative!!) The solution, as partially noted by the other poster, is to rollback Media Player to version 10 AND to eliminate all traces of Creative software on your PC. Reboot, then plug in the Zen, it will be regognized by MP10, and then run the firmware upgrade software. I found it easier to do this by using a different computer rather than uninstalling software from mine. After this WMP 11 does work."
