XP loaded by PC expert to correct crashes - I need to reload the original Windows Vista - I do have the Vista Serial Number

Ok, so someone wiped your hard drive and installed XP on your Vista machine? Thats the best thing that could have happened to it in my opinion. :) The Vista serial # you speak of is most likely on the bottom of your machine. Once someone performs a reformat and new OS install the "restore" part of your drive is most likely gone forever. The only way to reinstall Vista at that point is to have a disk to do it with, then you will have to reinstall all the device drivers if it isnt an "upgrade" and will keep them intact..

How do I setup a dual boot for a PC with Vista and XP? I want XP to start automatically.My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L355-S7915 that had Vista Home Basic preinstalled.

The first thing you need to do is repartition the hard drive. This will effectively erase the drive because partitions run below the OS level.

You create two partitions and then you can load each OS to its own partition. When the box boots you choose the OS you want to start and thats it...I think if you put the preferred OS in the first partition it will load that one by default.

You need both OS disks to do this so make sure your factory Vista disk works.

My satellite A105 is running slow and it has in the last few days started to turn itself off, while I am working.

hey here are somethings you need to do.

1) Open internet explorer -> Tools-> Internet options ->General -> Browsing History -> Delete -> Check all boxes -> Delete. (IE 8, The process is quite similar in other browsers as well)

2)For XP
Start-> Run-> type temp-> Ok-> Select all-> (Shift +Delete)

For vista
Start-> Start Search-> type temp-> Ok-> Select all-> (Shift +Delete)

3) For XP
Start-> Run -> type %temp%-> Ok-> Select all -> (shift+delete)

For Vista
Start-> Start Search-> type %temp%-> Ok-> Select all-> (Shift +Delete)

4) Turn off laptop, Remove battery , Remove AC adapter, Press power button for 2 minutes. Put both back on. Turn on laptop.

5) Run virus scan and check for malware and other virus related issues. If anything is found delete the infected files.

6)
For XP
Go to Control Panel-> Add and remove programs-> Remove all unnecessary softwares

For Vista
Go to Control Panel-> programs-> Installed Progams->Remove all unnecessary softwares

7)
For XP
Run-> msconfig-> Startup->Disable all

For Vista
Start search -> msconfig -> Startup -> Disable all

8)
Check for the system RAM. If your laptop has 2 memory cards installed. One might have failed. So try to remove it and fix it back again and check
9) Get the fan checked.?

How to Install windows XP in SONY VAIO Vista

Is it ok if your files get lost forever?  If it is then what you have to do is when it says if you want to partition a hard drive space, you delete the biggest parition (which wipes any and all vista and files of the computer.)  Then it will ask you which partition you want use.  Use the one you just deleted, whhich is the biggest one.  It will ask you to format it and stuff, just go with it.  Then you will have XP instead of Vista!  (Warning: I warned you above that this way will wipe of vista and any other files-documents-photos-everything off your comptuer)

Bluetooth not installing on WinXP

Hi,

I looks like Acer designed this Notebook for Windows Vista only.

Have you wiped Vista and installed XP instead? If so is there a particular reason, like an old piece of software not working with Vista?

I would be inclined to put Vista back on it. Vista is much better and safer than XP once you get used to it, Especially on a laptop.

If you really want to keep XP, try looking for an older Acer notebook with the same bluetooth adaptor that came with XP installed and see if the driver works from that, its a long shot though.

Compaq presario C700 won't boot after XP install

well murray,
you did a no no, but what I would do is re-install your vista, after you run the recovery console, and reinstall the machine back to the origanl factory setup, you really don't want the XP anyway, I did that on my dell Inspron m 8600, and I kept getting the B.S>O>D (blue screen of death) the computer came out with vista, all the drivers and required os is included in the factory included software, XP doesn't offer all the drivers for your specific machine.

Restore the system with the recovery disk and vista and you will be alright, you wouldn't like XP after vista on a machine, as it doesn't operate properly, take it from the one with experiance with his own Dell computer and will NEVER go back to XP!, Vista has issues, but your machine was made for it and best left alone.
