Question about Harley Davidson Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Desktop Telephone

1 Answer

I changed my rear turn signals on my 02 Sportster to the baby bullets from JP Cycles. They are wired correctly and are incandescent not led. Here is the problem, the signals work properly when the ignition is turned on, but when the bike is turned over and running the signals come on but stay steady on. They do not blink. I have changed the flasher unit, and now I am lost because this did not fix the problem. Where should I go now?

Im not completely familiar with that bike but from pictures and microfiche it looks like there are a couple of bolts under the fairing that when taken out shoild allow you to get into the wiring when you pull the cover out. I hope this helps

How to install turn signals on a 1999 HD Wide Glide

If it has wiring in place to power the lights and mounting locations, go buy some turn signal lights that will look good and fit the mounts you have. Connect the brighter colors from the bike wiring to the brighter colors of the turn signals and the same for darker colors.

If you buy signals with LED lighis, buy a 12 Volt turn signal flasher that is made for LED's--eBay has them. If you choose turn signals with incandescent bulbs (the traditional type), be sure each bulb draws 16 or 17 watts as other wattages will not allow a standard flasher to operate correctly--google the bulb number to find out. With other bulb wattages, the signals won't flash; they will stay on or not turn on at all as standard flashers are made to drive 2 16-watt bulbs; 32 watt loads. The good news is that the flashers made for LEDs will work with any type of bulbs or LED's, so go ahead and order one of the LED flashers to avoid trouble shooting the signals once they are installed.

How to hook up a 2 wire system to a 3 wire system, help!

The 3 wire is a running light/turn signal combo. On the three wire you have neutral, turn sig hot and running light hot.
If you want the two wire bullet light to be a turn sig, you will have to hook up the neutral/ ground and the turn sig hot. The running light hot will be capped.
If you want the bullet light to be both a turn sig and a running light you will have to buy an aftermarket product to regulate the power to the lights.

My Turn Led Signal Can Not Blink

The LED lamps are not plug-in replacements for incandescent ones because they place a much lower load on the flasher.

I know absolutely nothing about the Badlands turn signal units. My suggestion is to forward your question to them as it's one of their units that you have question about. I hope they can give you answers. I sorry that I can't help you.

Changed the blinker lightbulbs on my 2000 Sportster but now they wont work front or back. Help???

The turn signal cancelling unit is designed to work with a specific load on it. You must use the proper bulbs for it to work. If you installed LED bulbs, the load is different. You can get a "load equallizer" that will allow you to run the LED bulbs but make sure you get the correct one and wire it in properly. Look here. http://www.badlandsmotorcycleproducts.com/Tech-Pages/WHICH-LOAD-SHOULD-I-USE.htm

Replacing signal lights on a 1992 sportster that has 2 wires on the original lighting to a bullet style turn signal that has 3 wires.

The two wire system is for a turn signal only unit. The three wire unit has a turn signal and a running light in it. Remove the turn signal lense and you'll probably see a dual filament bulb. The two wire system is shown as an "International" wired model according to my book. One wire is the "hot" wire (Brown) and the other is a ground or earth wire (black) on the bike. On the turn signal unit, probably all wires are black. You can use a VOM to determine which wire is the ground wire or you can just try hooking them up in different ways until you find one that works.
