Question about Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000

The letters are rubbing off the keys. To an experienced typist, my wife, this isn't a big deal but for me it's a huge hassle. Do they make replacement keys? This is the 2nd keyboard this has happened to.

I can tell you what doesn't work: Trying to shield the key characters with clear nail polish or artist's lacquer - the nail polish rubbed off fast and the lacquer was so thick that it changed the configuration and feel of the keys. Using Magic Marker or something similar required almost daily re-marking. However there are a number of companies that make and sell stickers to put on all the keys - even stickers with big bold characters and yellow or colored backgrounds.

I used 1/2 tape and a brother label maker and covered the most used keys. Brother tape is laminated and wearing much better than the keyboard decals microsoft specified for the manufacturer.

Why big letter l in my keyboard doesn't work?

If you haven't spilled anything on your keyboard, then this is probably a manufacturing defect that Apple should fix under warranty if it's still under warranty.

If it isn't under warranty any longer, you'll most likely have to pay for a repair by Apple.

The hand wheel on my Janome 9000 has become very tight and hard to turn. I am still able to sew but something isn't right.

It is very likely that the main shaft bushing on the handwheel side has failed. It is very easy to diagnose. With the top cover removed, one can inspect the bushing for any discoloration seeping from the bushing. If that is the case, the main shaft and the bushing will need to be replaced. Not a big deal, I've done lots of them, but definitely a job for an experienced technician. paul@howellgroup.org

BIG remote that will work with the latest DirecTV receivers

If you are looking for a "Big Button" remote call DirecTV and have them send you their big button remote, it is not worth the hassle of dealing with the cheapo brands (emerson, rca, sentry remotes). This allows you to also program your other devices using an on screen menu.

I can receive large files, but I cannot send 7.5MB files. I get message error 451.

Hello!
You will find that most email services put limits on the size of the outgoing emails that they will allow.  If you actually have a need for sending large files all of the time (I send huge data and CAD files myself) you either have to set up your own email server (not that big a deal, and it cuts out the hassles of dealing with your ISP) or use one of the email services designed for larger files.  A few of these are Pando, SendThisFile, PodMailing, and Send6.  I am not a particular fan of any one of these guys, have used them all to get the job done from time to time.
To try to eliminate the hassles of going to a website to send large emails, I eventually wound up setting up my own email server.  Since I have both Linux and Windows systems running here, I was able to take an older system, load it with Linux and set up a server without much of a problem.  But that solution is for me, where I routinely send 10-50 meg files to different divisions of the company or to customers.
I hope that this helps you out!

Big letters

Try holding the Ctrl Key and scrolling the mouse wheel to reduce the size. You may have magnifier running. Click the Windows plus U to bring up the utility screen and turn it off.

The horizontal size adjustment is in the service menu only. I would suggest someone who knows the code to do it for you.
