Monitor comes on just long enough to glimpse screen content and goes dark again. I connected a different lcd monitor to the computer using same power and video cords and did not experience the problem. I connected the problem monitor to a different computer but the problem persisted.

I had the same problem. Monitor would go dark after short time.
Opened up the screen (use this link, http://www.wizardanswers.com/liquidvideo... as a guide) and
found a bulging capacitor. Removed and installed new capacitor (Radio
Shack $1.50). And easy peezy, it works swell.

When I turn on my computer the monitor screen comes on then goes black. If I turn it off then on again it will again come on for a few seconds. Not long enough though to view anything. Whats the fix for this anyone?

last night computer worked fine. THis morning when I turned it on the monitor stays on 1-3 seconds I heard a sound (like a bubble popping) then monitor goes black, then keeps repeating the same thing. When I did a restart it does the same thing. My monitor is 4-5 years old, I would think it would last longer than that as I paid about $400 for just the monitor.I cant see screen long enough to locate my mouse curser to even get to the help screen. Please help..............

I did as others have suggested, but with a twist. I not only replaced the fried C922 capacitor but one adjacent to it, and my monitor now works perfectly. Sorry, forgot the number of the other capacitor but it might not matter because it probably could've been almost any other one...I just happened to also spot the 2nd bad one (which I also replaced with another of higher voltage).

So, if you're going to go through all the trouble of opening the unit up to potentially replace one capacitor, be sure to inspect them all because there might be others.

I had the same problem with Capacitor C922. Just replaced it with a 35v, and now the monitor just blips on and off constantly (the power light goes on and off). There are other listings for this problem on this site, but no answers it seems...

The problem for me was that Capacitor number C922 has blown on the inverter board. It's an easy fix, just pop off the old one and solder on another with a higher voltage rating. The original cap was 1000uF and 15v i replaced it with a 1000uF 35v capacitor. it works great!

MAKE SURE THE CONNECTION BETWEEN YOUR MONITOR AND YOUR COMPUTER IS PLUGGED IN TIGHTLY AND CORRECTLY, YOU MIGHT NEED A NEW POWER CABLE OR A NEW CABLE THAT CONNECTS FROM YOUR MONITOR TO YOUR COMPUTER, TRY CONNECTING YOUR MONITOR ON ITS OWN PLUG, OR IN ANOTHER SOCKET AROUND THE HOUSE IT MIGHT NOT BE GETTING ENOGH POWER, IF IT IS NOT LCD MONITOR (NOT FLAT) THEN YOUR COMPUTERS BULB MIGHT CIRCUT WRONG

Your monitor's power supply is probably bad. If your inclined, you can pry apart the monitor shell and replace any bulged capacitors you see on the power supply. Replacement capacitors are available from mouser.com.

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

Sounds like either there is a bad connection from the computer to the monitor, or the monitor has a faulty power regulator, causing the monitor to overheat prematurely, and shut off.

DELL 2208WFP LCD-Comes on normally, but almost immediately goes dark You can see something on the screen if you look closely. Turn it off and back on you see it then dark. any help?

Hello,

I believe the power led button is still on while the screen goes dark, if yes, it means the picture board of your monitor is bad that is why it appears for a second and goes dark after that

Since the power led button is on, It means the picture board on your monitor is faulty that is why it appears for a second and goes dark.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer or any service center within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself in other to complicate issues.

Take care.

When I turn on my monitor I can see the Gateway letters come on the screen but then it just goes dark again. It comes on for a split second and then goes dark again.

joel_herrera, Yes, this is a very common symptom of a failing Switch-Mode-Power-Supply and/or Inverter circuit! Very common in 2-4 year old lcd/fpd's. How old is your's? Do you have warranty? Have you tried the Flashlight test? DO THIS! Reconnect lcd monitor to your fully booted PC with a known good WIN desktop screen. Then power "on" the HD2201 and tell me what happens and what you see or don't see after the screen goes BLACK! Shine a bright flashlight onto the screen at different angles and let me know the results. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com BYE

HP 1702 Monitor comes on but immediately goes off.

There are five capacitors on the power board which have dried out and need replacement. A reputable repair shop should be able to fix this for around $50.00 including labor.
