Electric or gas?

The electric heater element may be finished, you will have to remove the back to determine. Of course, unplug the device before you perform any tests.

Gas? Might be as simple as a clogged orifice. Does yours have a pilot light? Is it burning? If not, is the Igniter functioning?

Might it be that the cat set your control to "air only' setting?

Our dryer is a little over a year old. Everything seems like its running ok except for the fact that there is absolutely no heat. Any ideas?

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

I need an answer please. why does my dryer tumbles but there is not heat. dryer 10 years old, should i replace or repair? thank you!

There is a common part that goes out after a decade on most dryers and it is called a "solenoid" which activates the heating function and turns heat on and off according to the setting you've commanded. The thermostat controls the degree and temp of heat, but when/if the solenoid fails ($20 part) there is NO HEAT that occurs. Dryers are very simple devices, hardly need replacing EVER, but with a repairman's help you should not have to spend much to get your machine working for another 10 years! Call a local repairman for the good news and have him fix it for you.

My dryer still heats, but the drum doesn't move. Is this going to be a costly repair, the dryer is about 20 years old and this is the first problem I'm ever had with it.

If you got 20 years out of your unit I would definitely keep it! You need a new drum belt. You can get it at . They also have videos which show how to install the part. Let me know if you need more help. Thanks for using FixYa and for the generous rating.

Dryer no longer has heat to dry clothes

The element gets brittle and breaks. The element is in the rear of the dryer under the dustcover.

Amana gas dryer only heats first 20 minutes

Check your ducts that the heat blows out through. make sure there is no plug up in the dryer or in the ductwork.
You may have a problem with the termosensor or the high temp cut out safety switch/sensor. This sensor would be somewhere in the exhaust of the dryer.
