Why isnt my ipod charging?

iPod's battery doesn't charge

Several things could keep your iPod's battery from charging. The major causes are listed below in logical order. Check each one to see if it's what's keeping your battery from charging.

Low-powered USB port

iPods that connect to USB ports require a high-power USB port.

Keyboards and some USB hubs will not charge iPod. Connect iPod directly to the computer or to a USB AC power adapter. Click here for more information.

Connect directly to computer

If you connect iPod to something that connects to the computer (like a USB hub or FireWire drive), connect iPod directly to the USB or

FireWire port on the computer.

FireWire port on a Windows PC

The FireWire (IEEE 1394) ports on some Windows-compatible computers may not be powered, and consequently won't charge iPod when you plug it in. Check here to see if the FireWire port on your PC can charge iPod.

Your computer goes to sleep

Your computer can only charge iPod when it's turned on and not asleep. Make sure your computer is on and not set to go to sleep when you want to charge iPod. Tip:

Some Macintosh computers can charge iPod even though they're asleep.
If your sleeping computer doesn't charge iPod, don't worry, just wake it and let iPod charge.

hope this helps

I have connected my nanomax ipod to the computer and it is not charging.how should i charge it?

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time you are viewing this solution post. Thank you for choosing FixYa to solve your problem. So you have connected your Nanomax iPod to the computer and it's not charging like it's supposed to, and you want to know how you should charge it properly? There are two ways you can charge the battery - charging via your Dock Connector to USB Cable, or the Apple USB Power Adapter (which is sold separately). Here are the step by step instructions to charging your and Nanomax.

Using the Dock Connector to USB Cable
  1. Using your Dock Connector to USB Cable, plug the dock connector end to your iPod and plug the USB end to your computer. Make sure the computer you are using has a USB 2.0 port (check your computer's technical specifications to see if it's USB 2.0 certified). Most USB ports on the keyboards of laptops do not provide enough power to perform charging activities. If you have a Docking Station, plug the docking connector into the station and placed the iPod in the station as well.
  2. Make sure your computer is fully awake and not asleep (meaning in sleep mode).
  3. A fully charged battery takes 3 hours to complete. An 80% charged battery takes an hour and 30 minutes. The battery is charging when it shows the charging icon (a battery not fully shaded in green, with a lightning bolt). The battery is done charging when the "fully charged" icon shows (a green-shaded battery with a 2-prong plug showing).
  4. When you are done, disconnect the cable from your computer.
Using the Apple USB Power Adapter
  1. Connect the Alternating Current (AC) Plug Adapter with the power adapter (if connected already, skip this step).
  2. Using your Dock Connector to USB Cable, connect the dock connector end to your iPod and the USB end to the power adapter.
  3. Plug the power adapter into a polarized wall outlet or surge protector outlet.
I think you connected everything correctly, but the USB port on your computer did not have enough power to charge your battery. If that's the case, you will have to find a computer that has a USB 2.0 port on it (like a desktop PC or MAC, or a car adapter charging device) and connect to it, or use the USB Power Adapter (sold seperately). I think this pretty much answers your question. I hope this benefits you the best way possible. Once again, thank you for choosing Fixya as your one-stop solution spot for your problems. Have a good day, evening or night; whatever time you are viewing this, and visit us again the next you need assistance troubleshooting.

I dont how charge battery on my mp3 player

Some things to check for when your player does not act like its taking a charge. USB Cable Make sure that the USB cable is properly plugged in and use the original cable that came with your player. Computer in Hibernation mode Make sure the computer isn't entering hibernation or sleep mode while the device is connected. The computer must be ON in order to charge your player. USB Port 2.0 Make sure the player is connected to a USB 2.0 port (1.1 occasionally causes charging problems). USB Port location Try plugging into different USB ports (i.e. USB port in the back of the computer); occasionally the front USB ports have limited power to charge up the device. Battery Make sure the battery is fully charged. It takes approximately 3 hours to fully charge the battery. Latest firmware Depending on what player you have, make sure it's up to date with the latest firmware. AC charger (optional) AC chargers (sold separately) have a 500-1000 milliamp max output, which provides much better charging ability than a USB port.

Can I charge my Magellan roadmate with USB cable connected to the computer?

It depends on the Roadmate that you have. :
- If your Roadmate has a separate plug-in port for charging your unit IN ADDITION TO a USB port, then no, your Roadmate cannot be charged using your computer via the USB cable.
- If your Roadmate only has a USB port available for charging your unit, then yes, you can charge it via your computer via USB.
However, please note, according to Magellan, charging your unit using your PC via USB can take up to 12 hours to charge vs. 4-6 hours when using the vehicle power adapter.
FYI: This is mainly due to USB constraints on pretty much all electronic devices. USB cannot carry the same amount of power to a device. It uses what is commonly known as a 'trickle' charge to recharge a device. It carries much less current than a full-blown charger (like an AC power adapter).
