Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer

1 Answer

We recently had to move our neptune front-load washer and now that we put it back in place on every setting it takes 99 minutes to wash clothes. It shows 12 minutes to spin, 34 minutes to rinse and 79 minutes for a quick wash cycle. It still washes...it just take forever to wash a load of clothes. Any advice?

Hi.

When moving the appliance you may have disconnected a wire, kinked a hose, or a part may have broken. There are faults that can cause the machine taking longer than usual to complete the cycle.

Here a break out of what may have happened.

When the cycle takes an unusually long time to complete, that is not usually do to a control unit (CCU) fault, but to the fact that one condition needed to follow on the cycle is not met.

The most obvious thing to check are the water inlets. If water is not coming with sufficient pressure, or if the inlet hose is blocked or kinked, the cycle time may take much longer.

Other common problems are the pressure switch (SWITCH, PRESSURE), that detects water level, and the thermostat (on self heating models only).
The pressure switch determines when to stop filling and draining. If the pressure switch is faulty, then drain and filling may take much longer or go on forever.

Check also that water valve and dispenser valve are not clogged. (VALVE, WATER) and (DISPENSER VALVE )

On the water valve there may be a thermistor (not all models), check that the thermistor contact is not disconnected (WATER VALVE W' THERMISTOR) , as the thermistor may also be faulty.

Is there any kind of recall on a Maytay front loading washer, model #MAH6500AWW? I am having problems with mildew in the rubber part and terrible smelling water in the bottom.

The cleaning process for your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer, for example, requires some time and patience. Over time, your washing machine will need to be cleaned. It can develop offensive odors through multiple wash cycles. This makes the washing machine less effective at cleaning the clothes you put into it. Maytag offers some sound advice for cleaning your front-loading washing machine.
  • Pour 2/3 cup of liquid chlorine bleach into the bleach compartment of the dispenser drawer of your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer.

  • 2

Run your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer on the "Clean Washer" setting. Press "Start" to start the cycle.

  • 3

Leave the door open once the cycle is complete to allow the inside of your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer to ventilate and air dry.

  • 4

Look closely at the gray seal of the Maytag Neptune front-loading washer's door opening. This seal can have a buildup of debris or detergent residue.

  • 5

Spray the seal with an all-purpose appliance cleaner and scrub away any debris or residue with a cloth or scrubbing pad. Dry with a clean cloth.

  • 6

Remove the soap dispenser drawer. Press the release lever and lift it out to clean.

  • 7

Take out the inserts and rinse them and the drawer thoroughly.

  • 8

Wash with a mild soap and cloth to remove any residue. Dry thoroughly before replacing.

  • ALWAYS LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN WHEN NOT IN USE! This prevents the mold and mildew from forming once you get it cleaned.

I have Maytag Neptune front loader washer. When

    Hi.

    Error LR means Locked Rotor.

Either the motor is faulty, there is a wiring problem, or the control assembly is faulty.

Try tripping the circuit breaker to reset the machine, if code comes back a technician must have a look at the motor.

Maytag neptune frot load will not reach full spin speed.

It will not spin while washing, it's more of a rocking back and forth. As far as the spin cycle. If it's not reaching full speed I bet you'll notice that it's not doing the full cycle because the load is bouncing around and cause the washer to shut off. take some of the clothes out and watch it spin the water out.

"nd" refers to a No Drain issue .check for restriction in pump, restricted drain hose loose wire at pump, bad pump.
The pump had a suds lock. Unplug the machine for a minute. Plug it back in and run a cycle on hot to get rid of the excess soap.

    1 - Select Wash/Rinse Water Temperature
2 - Select Options (Max Extract, Extra Rinse, Signa)
    3 - Select Cycle
4 - Load the Clothes Washer (add detergent on top of the load in the tub, and additives [fabric softener, bleach] in their dispensers).
    5 - Start the washer.
This is according to the owner's manual I have. Has worked for 9 years for me.
