How do I unlock my keyboard? On the top right hand corner there is a silver Dell button(that's what it looks like). There are 3 lights with 3 lock emblems, one has the number 9, one has the letter A a

Those "lock" lights are for the NUMLOCK, CAPS LOCK, and SCROLL LOCK features. With each press of the NUM LOCK key, the "9" should cycle on and off. With each press of the CAP LOCK key, The "A" light should cycle on and off, and so on.

Try resetting the BIOS, see if the drive re-detects
  1. Boot to BIOS F2
  2. turn on all 3 lock lights (NUMLOCK, CAPSLOCK< SCROLL LOCK)
  3. Press ALT+E, then ALT+F then ALT +B and system will reboot and re-detect drives
  4. If HDD is not detected, reseat data and power cable connections, try again
  5. if still no go, then HDD has likely failed

When my keboard was connected to the system unit there was light on the keyboard but all the key are nt responding

Turn you computer off. Check to see if the keyboard is plugged in all the way. Now turn the system on.
Do the lights on the keyboard flash when the system turns on?
Can you push the caps lock key and get the caps lock light to turn on?
Can you push the numlock key and get the numlock light to turn on?

No? Well I would then try another keyboard. It's quite possible yours is broken.

Inspiron 1525 power light is on but computer wont work

Some details please? Does the system show any video on the LCD? Do you hear any Windows Startup Sounds? Are the Lock lights (Caps Lock, NumLock and Scroll Lock on/flashing? If you have none of the above, then remove the HDD, Optical Drive, RAM, Modem, external devices/docks and wireless cards and see if anything changes. If nothing changes, thenmost likely a motheboard issue. Replace ment motherboards run $150 to $250 on Ebay

Dell Inspiron 5160 wont turn on

I would suggest that first try running the psa test on ur system which could b done by press and hold FN key and power button together and leave it as soon as u see anything on the screen or any led in case u get any error code or beep sounds then it has to do with hardware and u ned to contact dell in case ur system is still under warranty.which lights do u see come up when u press the power button.I guess u r talking abt the led's for capslock , numlock and scroll lock.try reseating the memory module from the system and try running ur system on one memory chips and vise-versa because it seems that may b the prob is with the memory sticks.
in case u want manual for removing the memory sticks try using support.dell.com and u would get the manuals from there.
