Hello - I am sure hoping that you can point me in the right direction as I deal with the frustration of my washing machine. I'm having trouble with my Roper Top Loading Washer - RAS7233KQO Lately, I've been noticing that the clothes are left very wet after the washer is done. I began investigating the possiblities. The easiest was the timer and the lid switch - all is well with these two things. I then decided to begin watching different wash sessions to see what was going on. Everything progresses as it should until it reaches the spin cycle - kind of. When the washer has an average load in it, it either spins very slow or you can see it trying to spin or sometimes it won't spin at all. I then decided to test the washer by putting just a couple small items it it. I ran the washer. It reached the spin cycle and spun like crazy BUT - the couple of clothes that I put in were still very wet. Help! Is this a spin problem or a pump problem? What would you suggest we look into to diagnose the problem? Please point me in the right direction. Any help you could offer would be such a blessing to our family. Thanks and God Bless!

Re: Pulling my hair out with confusion!
I would probably not focus on the pump but instead check the clutch/transmission assy. pull the cover off, is there oil spread across the inside cabinet apporx 12in. up on all 3 sides, thes an indicator of bad tranny, oil on clutch =intremmitten spin

Some control panels are finicky--you have to press on the buttons just right to choose a selection. If your model is a touch-panel or soft-touch design, they can be frustrating sometimes to get the pair of buttons pushed just right--I'm an appliance tech and sometimes want to pull my hair out(I don't have much left, lol!) However, the problem could also be a defective user interface board(fancy name for control panel) or even a defective main board with corrupted programming. Make sure you press and hold the buttons long enough to remove the lock--usually 3-4 seconds but I've found that sometimes you have to hold the buttons significantly longer until the lock is disabled. Hope I helped you!
You probably need to clean the filter (bottom right hand side of the washing machine) and clear it out.
Also, when you pull out the filter, be sure to check inside the housing for any detritus that might be stuck in there.
You'll probably find a hair clip or something similar is what it causing the noise - it seems incredible that something as small as a hair clip can cause so much noise but try it and believe.

There are several factor's to consider with a Bendix combo unit not spinning. First and most common is an obstruction in the pump or a faulty pump entirely. In the front of the washer at the lower right hand side below the tub door you'll notive a smaller door/access panel. If you open it there lyes the pump with a removable filter insert, unscrew it and check for foreign object's such as coins, button's, hair pin's etc.
Other possible factor's are overloading,(adjust load size) Improper detergent or too much of the right detergent (HE only and 1/2 the recommended amount is typically enough) and ultimately worn brushes in the motor, this can usually be identified by observing the "wash" portion of the cycle. Does it rotate both way's when washing, changes direction approx. every 6 second's ? If yes then the brushes are ok, if no...call in a pro appliance tech. I also suggest you inquire to their experience with Bendix...it could save you a lot of time, money and grief.
Those are the most common issues, it could also be related to the timer or door lock but less likely.
Hope that help's. Thank you for visting fixya, please take a moment to rate the answer provided to you today.
