I bought a brand new Hotpoint washer, model #HSWP1000M3WW. The water level for super size load during wash seems high enough. But the water level for the rinse is about a third of the super wash level. ...

I would check with the vendor that sold you the unit and see what they have to say or send an email to the Contact Us link on their website and ask. I am guessing no mention of the in your owners manual?

Clothes come out dirty in front loaded washer

Check the level sensor at the rear of the drum.

My Whirlpool washing machine with the load sensor doesn't put enough water in to cover the clothes. Can this be adjusted?

The water level cannot be adjusted, but sometimes the pressure hose gets obstructed. Remove the three screws from rear of top panel to gain access to the main control. The pressure hose is attached on the RH side of it. Remove hose and blow through it to assure clear air path. If problem remains, replace control. Control available HERE, and using coupon code 1050 will get you a discount on the part!

Water level needs to be adjusted, too low

Check for blockage in the water inlet pipe. As per the manual there is no way to adjust the water level. It is automatically chosen by the machine.

Wash cycle water level

the water needed needs to just come up right under the door this is how much water they use cause they use a tumble wash to clean the clothes
low water preasure is a problem but also make sure both water inlets are being used (hot and cold) even if you dont have hot attach a y hose the machine needs both inlets in use
these machines use very low water usage but they still need a fill up point

Water level adjustment

You don't. Front load washers use only a very small amount of water. They fill a small amount, tumble a bit, resulting in water being absorbed into the clothes, which drops the water level in the tub. The washer senses this and adds more water, which repeats until water level stabilizes. The only way to get more water on wash cycles is to use delicate cycles, which use more water, resulting in a more gentle wash action. Remember that due to the low water consumption of front load washers, you should only use one tablespoon of HE detergent per cycle. (even less if you use 2x or 3x concentrate.) This is a FixYa solution. Your washer is working as designed.
