Hi.

If you checked the drain hose at the back, then remove the panel located at the bottom of front side after disconnecting power. There you will wind the access to drain pump and hose.

Unscrew the cap and get ready to collect a good amount of water with a container.

If you have already done this, then the drain pump may be defective , or there may be a blockage in lines fro tub to drain pump. In that case further disassembling is needed.

Here parts and diagrams.

The unit is overflowing and will not drain

for models equipped with a drain pump;
verify that the pump is not clogged. if it hums during the fill cycle or rinse cycle then something is lodged inside. If it doesn't then it needs to be replaced.
for models without the drain pump;
something is interfering with the water flow. when the stand pipe is removed, the tank should empty in about one minute.

Fisher & Payel washer wouldn't work

A repairman examined my washer and told me I needed a new drain pump. The washer wouldn't drain the water out after filling. I suggested he check the drain because I had recently washed a rug and suspected the drain as clogged with lint. He took out the drain pump and diagnosed that I needed a new pump. After he left, I watched a youtube video on this problem. They man in the video carefully showed how to remove the drain pump. I then removed the drain pump myself and found an inch size ball of lint that was clogging the drain pump up inside. I removed the lint and reinstalled the same pump and the washer has worked fine ever since. I learned this after an expensive service call fee and he wanted to charge me another $150+ for new drain pump and installation.

test this steps and fix it. God bless you

Belt, Water Pump

Although few dishwashers have a water pump belt, if the dishwasher won't drain there might be a worn or broken water pump belt. After removing the lower kick panel the motor can be seen in the front, the water pump belt is on the bottom of the motor.

Drain Pump

If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain pump might be defective. Test the pump motor with an Ohm meter. Drain pumps are not repairable, if it's defective it will need to be replaced.

Drain Impeller

The drain impeller is attached to the pump and pushes the water out of the dishwasher, through the drain tube and into the garbage disposer or drain line. If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain impeller might be broken or worn out. Replace both the impeller and seal at the same time.

Drain Solenoid Kit

If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain solenoid kit might need to be replaced. The drain solenoid is an actuator that opens a flap to allow the water to drain.

Drain Valve

The drain valve can get clogged with debris and should be cleaned out if the dishwasher won't drain. If it seems clear of debris but won't actuate, it will need to be replaced. The drain valve is not repairable.

Pump and Motor Assembly

If the dishwasher won't drain, the pump and motor assembly might be defective. If the motor runs during the drain cycle, check for a blockage in the drain line. If the motor won't run during the drain cycle or if it just hums when it should be running, the pump and motor assembly might need to be replaced.

Clogged or Improperly Installed Garbage Disposer

If the dishwasher won't drain and the garbage disposer was installed recently, the installer might have forgotten to knock out the drain plug from this disposer. All garbage disposers are sold with a solid plug in the drain tube for situations where a dishwasher isn't connected. However, if the dishwasher is connected, the plug will need to be removed. If the disposer wasn't replaced recently, remove the dishwasher drain hose from the disposer and clean out both the fitting on the disposer and the end of the drain hose. These are the most common places to find an obstruction if the dishwasher won't drain.

Drain Hose

If the dishwasher won't drain the drain hose might be clogged. Remove the drain hose from both the dishwasher and the sink drain to clean it out. The most common place for an obstruction is at the garbage disposer.

Check Valve

If the dishwasher won't drain the check valve might be stuck closed. The check valve is a device which prevents water from returning to the dishwasher after it has drained. If the valve gets stuck closed, it will prevent the water from draining. The check valve is located in or at the outlet of the pump that the drain hose attaches to. Sometimes the check valve is accessed from the inside of the unit depending on the model.

Check Ball

If the dishwasher won't drain the check ball might be stuck. The check ball is a small plastic ball in the check valve which prevents water from returning to the dishwasher after it has drained. If the ball gets stuck, it will prevent the water from draining also. The check valve is the device that the drain hose is attached to on the dishwasher.

Upper tray doesn't clean, lower tray is fine. Also, lot of soap sticks in the soap compartment after the cycle. Thanx.

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound. If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve.

Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete.
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump.

Not draining all the way

Hi and welcome to FixYa I am Kelly. Gently tip the unit to the rear and block it up on something solid so that the front of the machine is high enough up that you can reach under the the front of the machine. I use THREE 2x4" blocks nailed together with blocks under BOTH front legs. The pump is in the right front corner of the base. Grasp the pump pulley and see that it turns freely. You will also be turning the motor but that is fine. If it turns freely start the fill cycle and let it fill until there is about 8 inches of water in the tub. Have someone select spin and then WATCH the pump pulley. Make sure it is not intermittently stopping or that the pump drive belt is not slipping. If all of this checks good the next step is to drop the drain hose and see if the water in the tub will drain by gravity at a pretty good rate. If it does not drain rapidly with the drain hose below the wash tub with water in it then there is something in the bottom of the Tub blocking the drain hole.
You will have to remove the front panel by remove the 2 phillips head screws near the bottom front corners. Then pull the front cover toward you for a little over 30 degress and remove the panel. There are spring 2 clips at the top of the panel your disengaging.
Remove the TUB drain hose from the bottom of the wash tub and check in the hole for any obstructions. Next remove the hose from the top of the pump and check the pump impeller. Using both hands... one on the pump pulley and one finger in the pump top hole hold the impeller and turn the pump drive pulley. It should NOT slip. If it is slipping you will have to change the pump.
That is pretty much it for trouble shooting a drain problem other than making sure the drive belt is ok. If you can not clear an obstruction then the top of the machine has to be opened and the inner wash tub has to be removed. I wil help you with that IF you end up with somehing between the inner and outer wash tub blocking the drain hole. Just respond here and I will get back to you.

Parts diagram for pump Item 28 and washing machine: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=45823

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Kelly

Water will not drain

Here is the Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

What makes you say the drain pump/line is clogged? Have you taken an error code to the display of ND for no drain? Is the machine is a FAV6800A or FAV9800A?

Is the machine failing in spin cycle of the wash cycle?

Can you supply more info regarding your no drain issue?

If there is a drain line/pump clog we would start at the Sump Cap disconnect the drain line from it and inspect the Sump Cap for debris. We would have to check if the input hose is blocked or the impeller of the drain pump blocked.

The drain pump is a tight work area I will attach a Pic of the Drain Pump location for the FAV6800A/FAV9800A machines with the Outer Tub removed. It’s located on the right side of the machine. You will see the short drain line hose from the Sump Cap to the input of the drain pump and the exit drain line clearly in this pic. But before all that I would have you place 5 gallons of water in the machine by bucket fill then turn on the drain pump in Service Mode and time the wash tub to empty the water fill about 25 seconds max. That would give me an idea if we are dealing with drain pump/line restriction issue.

Maytag MLE2000AYW not draining

When you removed that clog after the pump you should have gotten very very wet if that was the only clog.
You will have to bail the water out of the tub or pull it out with a shop vac,and even then when you remove the other side of the hose on the pump you'll get a couple gallons of water coming at you, throw some towels over the motor control on the right front corner so it doesn't get wet and have more ready for the gush of water coming out.
Throw rugs were notorious for clogging these hoses up also check the out going hose from the pump to the drain,if you have the heavy rubber hose run something through it to make sure it is cleared out.
and if it was throw rugs your going to want to fill it and drain it several times when you get it draining again to make sure it is all cleared out of the machine,if it drains into a standpipe be careful it doesn't clog your pipes that stuff is like cement.

Kenmore dishwasher drainage problems

I have the same model -- and USED to have the same problem! We tried lots of things (bleach in the water, etc.). . . . and finally discovered it was a simple, standard concern. The drain tube from the dishwasher to the sink pipe was clogged with grease (looked like lard).
The way i knew it was clogged is that I disconnected the tube from the sink pipe, and tried to blow through the tube. It wouldn't let any air get through.
So once the dishwasher was empty of water (i removed the tube, drained into a big pan, and bailed a lot), we disconnected both ends of the tube.
With the tube in a trash bucket, I blew from one end (cleaned it off a bit first), and the "lard" came out. Drains beautifully now -- and did not require a plumber.
If you do this, be SURE you place the tube back ON the fittings EXACTLY in the same position and shape as before. This makes there are no new kinks or bends introduced into your drain tube.
Hope this helps.
