Hi, if you have the orriginal install disks that came with the computer then you will be in good shape. What you need to do is run the Xp install or recovery disk and at the SECOND prompt run repair, this will take you through the entire setup for XP, restoring the missing files but will save all your existing ones.
If you do not have the orriginal disks then you will need to buy a new install disk.

My computer monitor tokk so long to turn on

remove all unnecessary add on's, cookies and programs that are not necessary for the operation of the computer. Go into systems management and defrag the drives in the computer. This gets all the bits if information on the discs together. Add more RAM if you are doing a lot of work as small ram capacity slows down a computer . Failing all that take it to a computer geek and have him help you out.

The pin in the computer where the electrical cord plugs on to is broke off, or it is pushed into the computer. I think the soldering is broke. How do I open comp., and what to do, and not do ?

It is fairly easy to fix but a little pricey. Make sure your pc is off and unplugged, do not work on a carpeted area due to static electricity. You have to undo the screws on the side panel of your pc. Remove side panel and you will see a large box with a fan in it. If this is your problem area you can remove the four to six screws surrounding the box and remove it - this is your power supply. Take it to any pc store and see if they can 1. fix it or 2. purchase a new one. good luck

hope this helps

My girlfreind has just bought me a brand new 120gb ps3 i played it for 2 hours xmas day now it wont turn on any suggestions would be helpfull

If nothing at all- the power supply likely fried a fuse. They have a reputation for being finicky, so putting it on a power line conditioner may help.

I attempt to burn a DVD with video footage however it just stops burning and will not continue!!!...I don't know if this is a power supply issue or not !!!

Click start control panel administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone. or
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or

you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark?! or a red x right click you will need to update the driver or
select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver
hope this helps

I have a media center cpm 1180n desktop, the green light on back of PS is blinking and when I disconnect the mobo is steady green however when I connect the mobo back to my MB and press the start bottom...

yes it sounds like the power supply is shot, you can get a replacement at any computer shop for around $40. i would put in a 400w or 450w that way if you add another hard drive or opitcal drive it wont be a strain on the new power supply

Shuttle XPC XB51G Barebones - no power

I think you will find your PSU has gone faulty, they are very cheap these days, I would guess at the PSU and replace it "On Spec" with a similar one. Remove the four PSU screws around by the Fan at back. Unplug it from The motherboard noting connections, can only go one way thogh. Take the PSU to ya local repair shop and get another... put new one in connect up to MB and power up. If ya lucky.. ya solved ya problem. Or better still see if you can test it with another one B4 buying another.
