You've probably connected the pins wrong. You should find the manual and see how your front USB ports must be connected

Front pannel usb connection for Motherboard (945GZM775SE)

Ok, what about the front panel usb connection??

If they don't work, you can always plug in a usb adapter into one that does work to get more usb ports.

My usb ports do not work. Memory stick works on other computers but not my desktop. Help!

Do any other devices work on any of your USB ports on the desktops? Does the memory stick work with a port that works for another device?

If all of the ports fail, check the Device Manager (for Windows OS) - you may have a driver issue. This is reached through the Control Panel (under Hardware or System). The exact titles will depend on the version of the OS.

When you scroll through the list to the USB controllers, look for a triangle with a red x or a yellow triangle. The right click (or double-left click) and try to update your driver or roll back the driver to an older version that worked.

If only a few ports fail, then are you dealing with the front ports or the rear ports? If the front ports (case), then you might want to check if the header cable is fully connected to both the case and the motherboard. This requires opening the case with the appropriate care.

Unfortunately, some new USB devices pull too much power through the port and can burn them out. (Those that charge on the computer are the most likely culprit.) If you have a few working ports, get a USB hub that is self-powered. (Get a good one or only use the AC adapter when there are more than 4 devices connected to the hub.)

I hope this helps.

You have not mention what Operating system is on your PC.

For Windows OS XP, you just have to install at least XP Service Pack 2 or higher... and the USB 2.0 ports will function. For Vista & Win 7 OS, the USB 2.0 drivers is in the Operating System when you install Windows.

Hope it helps.

My USB ports won't work on my gigabyte MA69VM-S2 mobo with win7

Unlikely to be issues with the OS. Have you recently upgraded to Win 7 from Vista or XP? and did the USB ports work with this OS?
Do ALL usb ports fail or is it just one or two and are these the front USB's or rear USBs?

Run "Windows Update", to see if it will find updated device-drivers for the specific USB hardware on the motherboard.

Access the ASUS web-site, and search for 'P6T', and search for USB device-drivers for Windows 7 -- if none are found, try the device-drivers for Windows Vista.

Front Side USN dows not work in ASUS M2N MX SE

The front side port may be a "low power" USB port, it may be possible to "power" this if there is the capacity to connect a power cable to the front panel USB adapter, or there may be an aux power socket to plug into on the motherboard.

Front side USB port is not working

On some computers the front usb ports are like a usb hub, they don't have enough power to power up a hard drive.
