Intermittant sound on my HP Pavilion dv6-1340

Hello i have just bought a HP Pavilion dv6-1340 with Win7. when the laptop turns on the sound is intermittant. has anybody any idea how to solve this?

the problem occurs running from the mains as well as the battery.
windows 7 also seems unstable and slow, but this could be due to it updating itself. (i hope)

thanks for your help

Is it possible to install Win7 update on replacement HD - a HP Pavilion dv4000 Notebook PC

It should be possible. You should search a free toll number for your country to ask Microsoft about this situation. Also you can take out your old hdd and use Ghost to mirror it on the new hdd :) - you just clone the old hdd

First thing that comes to mind is have you downloaded all of the updated driveras from the manufacturers web site? Most apps won't work unless you do.
Have you downloaded all the Windows updates?

Let us know what the OS is and then we will be in a better possition to advise.

I have an intermittent chirping sound coming from my hp pavillion laptop. What's causing this?

there are only two kinds of moving parts in a computer that may cause a chirping noise:
- the hard disk: you better make a backup of critical data on your hard drive
- the fan: less critical since the data on your disk is not affected in case of a break-down, but annoying nonetheless. attention: a broken fan may cause the CPU to overheat. in general the pc turns itself off in case of overheating, but if it doesn't, the CPU may be damaged severely.
