Sub-Zero Under Counter Ice Maker not making Ice

I have a 9 year old Sub-Zero under counter ice maker that is having problems making ice. I have cleaned the system thoroughly, including the freezing tray. When I turn on the ice maker the pump starts to pump water up to the freezing tray and the water runs down over it. After a short time a sheet of ice forms on the freezing tray but it never releases and slides down to the cutting tray. I have let it run for several hours and the ice never releases and gets cut. Any suggestions would be welcome since I feel like I have tried everything except replacing the freezing tray.
Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the quick response. The model number on the tag on the inside is of the unit is 23560. The number on the Use and Car Guide is 2185887. I haven't been able to find anything on the net with this model number so I hope you can help. The timer thought would make sense. Is the time neare the pump assembly or is it under the freezing tray?

    Thanks again.

Ice will make and almost overflow and then freezes up at cutter. Who can I call to repair?

Hello Lisa;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

It sounds like you have a broken wire in your cutter. This is a easy part to replace. You have an electrical connector and some screws to remove.

If I were still working for , "Sears Home Services", with part I would be charging you about $300.00 -$350.00 for a repair that you can do yourself.

Go into the following website. Plug in your model number. Get the part number, then search the internet for bet price. You can repair this.

When frost builds up on the little flapper at the top of the door above the ice maker it can get stuck. It tells the ice maker to keep making ice. Try cleaning the mechanism of frost and make sure it operates freely.

Ice maker is not making ice

Subzero ice makers arent all cut and dry. You could have an intermittent issue with either the ice maker itself, or the solenoid valve. SZs also often utilize a door switch which prevents the ice maker from operating if the door or the basket which the ice bucket sits in are not closed or in the proper position. If you have had other what would seem minor problems, that you have lived with, they can inadvertently affect different things. Most sub zero ice makers you can start manually by rotating the ejector comb clockwise as you look at the front of the icemaker, when the icemaker completes its cycle, do you get water to the ice maker, and do you get enough water, usually 140-150 ccs. If the ice maker continues rotating on its own after your initial start up, and receives the proper amount of water, either you have a cooling problem, a door or something is not in the correct closed position, you have a bad switch, or the ice maker is bad. If you receive little or no water at end of cycle, you have a bad valve.
