Question about Jenn-Air JSD2789GES Side by Side Refrigerator

The bottom enclosure of the ice maker that supports auger motor

The bottom enclosure of the ice maker where the auger motor is attached, broke under the weight of the auger motor. I cannot find a replacement # for that enclosure. It is the part that goes under the bin - it's just plastic and back part broke into pieces and the auger motor fell down - Looks like I could just reinforce it with a piece of wood - Parts diagrams do not show that piece. Do you know??

Ice maker does not dispense ice through the door

Hello. I had the same problem. I replaced the auger motor(around$95) 3 times and would only last about a little longer than a year. I bought the 4th one but this time, I wanted to diagnose the issue. So it turns out that the auger motor goes installed with the impeller upwards. What was happening was that if a piece of ice would stay in the dispenser chamber and melt, the water would go into the auger motor eventually causing the auger casing to get full of water and slow it down or short it out. I took the casing apart and noticed that there was a small space between the motor and the casing. I drilled 2 nice sized holes in the dimple of the new motor very gently as to not drill into the impeller motor and installed the auger. To this day, 3 years later, no more having to buy new auger motors. Hope this helps!

NEED PROCEDURE FOR REMOVING THE ICE MAKER FOR INSPECTION AND TROUBLESHOOTING. FRIG IS NEW...ICE MAKER NOT MAKING ICE !!!!!

Are you sure you have the ice bin properly in place?

Ice bin must be locked in place for proper ice dispensing. If necessary, turn auger driver behind ice bin counterclockwise to properly align ice bin with auger driver.

• Press the switch ON to activate ice maker. Slide bin into guide rails located on either side of the enclosure. Push the ice bin in until resistance is felt. Raise the front slightly and push the ice bin completely in. An audible "click" is heard when the ice bin is located correctly.

• After freezer section reaches between 0° to 2° F (-18° to -17° C), ice maker fills with water and begins operating. You will have a complete harvest of ice

approximately every hour.

• Allow approximately 3 to 6 hours after installation to receive first harvest of ice.

• Discard ice created within the first 12 hours of operation to verify system is flushed of impurities.

• Stop ice production by pressing the ON/OFF switch located on the front of the ice maker.

• The first one or two batches will probably contain undersized and irregular cubes because of air in the supply line.

• When the ice cubes are ejected it is normal for several cubes to be joined together at the ends. They can easily be broken apart. The ice maker will

continue to make ice until the supply of ice cubes raises the ice maker arm, shutting the ice maker off.

• Certain sounds may accompany the various cycles of the ice maker. The motor may have a slight hum, the cubes will rattle as they fall into an empty storage bin and the water valve may click or "buzz" occasionally.

Why would water leak from the bottom of my GE refrigerator at least twice a day. Cannot ever locate the source and the water supply to the ice maker has been disconnected. That's another thing, The auger...

1. The water pan under the refrigerator is full.
This catches water whenever the freezer defrosts. Generally, the pan water evaporates and doesn't leak; however, the vents must be covered or something.
Pull of the bottom cover under the door and slide the water pan out. Empty it.

2. The motor nylon gear is broken. It is supposed to break in case a hand / finger gets caught inthe mechanism. It must have iced up and broken. It can be fixed.

GE refrigerator model GSS22 WGMD ice maker motor

If you cant manually turn your auger motor, it may be bad. Does it dispense solid ice or no ice at all? Another thing may be your control panel. That could be bad too, it's the one sending juice to both your solenoid and auger motor.

The auger arm doesn't turn. The ice maker still makes ice, it just can't dispense.

Take the ice container with auger inside it and defrost it. Withe the door open to the freezer push the switch that turns light on in freezer to turn it off. Have someone push the ice dispenser switch while you hold the light button in. Tell me if there is any movement in the auger motor in rear and let me know what you find. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Changingthe ice enclosure

Hello, Msalloum:

I have the same Maytag refrigerator that you have and I faced the same problem with the ice enclosure. I have now replaced it. As to the problem of separating the yoke from the motor, you'll have to turn the yoke clockwise in order to liberate it. In my case, after holding the motor shaft with a pair of pliers, I had to tap the yoke with a hammer once or twice on a clockwise direction before the yoke became free.

In view that more than 2 months have elapsed since you posted the question, you probably have solved the problem long time ago. If you haven't, I hope you find this tip helpful.

Icemaker doesn't work - no ice ejected

Krakus, there is no fuse in the dispenser assy., but there are two switches mounted on the control bracket. The posts on the brackets that hold the switches are really thin and it's possible that it broke. Therefore when you are pressing the lever you are not making the switch and sending the juice to the auger motor. Remove the dispenser cover by inserting a flat blade screw driver in the slots at the bottom. Pry out gently and the cover should pop off. Then slide it up and off. Now you will be looking at the control bracket and see the switches on the left and right side. See if the switch holder is broken. If this is the case your part number is 2183771. Not a hard job, just have to take your time. Im assuming that when you tested the auger motor you verified that the drive coupler was not broke. Catriver..post back
