My Sony Cybershot camera is now displaying a distorted tint to all my pics taken, and I have tried to adjust all my settings to correct the problem to no avail. Is there a solution to this problem without major expense? Model # is DSC-T33

Unfortunately your camera has the classic symptom of a ccd failure.

There were a huge number of Sony manufactured 5MP sensors which had a manufacturing fault which caused them to fail prematurely, and there was a "soft recall" whereby Sony did not generally announce the problem with any great fanfare, but offered owners a free repair. Somewhat grudgingly... there was a form to fill in which stated that if the fault was due to anything else then the owner would be liable for repair costs. This may have frightened off some folks who realised that it would be cheaper to replace their camera.

Unfortunately Sony discontinued the free repair offer a few months ago. All affected cameras had by then reached the end of their design lifespan and I believe that the stocks of spare parts (long-obsolete 5MP ccd units) had been exhausted; your DSC-T200 will be around five years old now so it's passed it's design life. Even if you get the spares, repairing your camera makes no economic sense as you can buy a far better model, brand new, for less than the repair costs.

Many other cameras were also affected as other manufacturers like Canon and Nikon bought the sensors from Sony. Some manufacturers had arrangement that Sony would make repairs, others (e.g. Canon) did it themselves and so some non-Sony models are still getting free repairs whilst those companies still have spares.

If it helps, pretty much ALL earlier ccd's don't last; there are few digital cameras which still work after five or six years, but the fault which Sony had is now well understood and manufacturing technology has vastly improved since then. However, it still makes you wonder when even a top of the line Nikon SLR only has a two year warranty...Digital cameras simply do not last anything like as long as many 35mm film cameras and probably won't do so for a long while, if ever.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I hope that you have still found my posting to be of some use. All that I ask in return is that you take a moment to rate my answer.

MY SONY CAMERA GOT WET ITS NOT CAPTURING PICTURES OR NOT RECORDING VIDEOS. EVERY THING IS WORKING BUT THE SCREEN IS NOT DISPLAYING WHAT DO I DO??????

sir,
if your camera or any electronics appliances happened to enter water or moisture, you must remove the power source(battery)at the immediate, hence the water is a conductor of electric power it will spoil the entire circuits of it. in this case there is very rare possibility to cure. any how please open your camera and take out the LCD display, there may be corrosion on the clipping connectors, try to clean all the connectors, wash the total circuit board with cleaning liquid, re connect all then power on.

Distorted/damaged pictures

Please check the image size (pixels x pixels) setting or the resolution (MP). Seems like the camera is shooting in low resolution. Have you used this memory card on a mobile phone or another camera? Format the memory card and try again.

Wont turn on

I don't know if this will help, but try it. Install new batteries. You may have enough power to view the images, but not have enough power to operate everything. There are also microcomputers in the camera. You can also try removing batteries, WAIT 1 FULL MINUTE, then reinstall (making sure the polarity is correct). Hopefully either of these simple solutions help.
