We need to add a printer which is relatively new to our newly
purchased Hp Pavilion Media Center m8300f/ Vista software pc.
We tried the disc that came with the printer but it would not
download the printer so I believe we need an update on the printer.

You need to download drivers for windows vista. They are supported in windows 7. Go to www.hp.com, click on "drivers and support", enter your printer model, and download the drivers for windows vista. Hope that will help solve your problem!
Choose your OS, where it lists the driver click on that link and then agree to the terms. It has drivers for windows 7 and drivers for vista. If the windows 7 driver doesn't work then choose the vista driver. If neither work then your printer is outdated for the OS that your running.
your best bet is to install
network magic to control your wireless network.
